Thanks for the link will read it properly but I should note that the sub will be used on a stone terrace so burying the sub is not an option (although I'm really curious how that sounds and more importantly feels )

I should also note that I'm looking for something in the range of 2-500 USD. That rules out something like Sonance.

I would look at pro audio gear, then maybe put a pitched roof over it.

I have a JBL SB210 it needs a amp to run it or you can order the passive crossover that let your amp run to it then out to satellite speakers. If you order the internal passive crossover know it doesn't come with the correct weather tight seals and have to be brought separately which is really stupid.

So I guess there simply are no powered outdoor subs. Outdoor speakers will be run by one or two Sonos connect amps. So I could just add a "subwoofer" amp between the Sonos connect and the sub. Is there anything to look for with subwoofer amps or will any normal amp do? Also for a 200 RMS sub what kind of amp would I need?

Subwoofer amps generally have a crossover built into them. Dayton makes some subwoofer amps. I am using an Audiosource amp for a sub in my garage, but it is hooked to an old AVR so it has the crossover in it.

I will have to search, but I remember seeing subwoofers that you buried. They had a large tube that stuck up out of the ground that was the opening to the driver. They looked wild.
I see I have been beaten to the punch. yes, the BOOM TOMB.

www.jamesloudspeaker.com/products/Speakers/LandscapeJames Loud Speaker makes a nice outdoor sub. They have a subterranean model that I have hands on experience with and they have a planter box. You may need to locate a dealer but I'm sure if you called them they would sell you one.
