Even Cincinnati is thawing! Thank goodness...my driveway had 10+ inches of snow, and it's 350' at a 15 degree incline the whole way to the road. We were having challenges getting out. I now have a gravel driveway again.

For the EmoSouth crowd...let's play "find my driveway"? Any guesses? This was 9 days ago. And, we got more. This is what I faced when I opened my garage doors. Mark

This past winter’s hard freeze! We rarely if ever get temperatures as low as they were. I thought for sure this palm was dead! I have a pair of them and they both survived. 😁 Bu it seems to be alive!

I lost a whole sweet-viburnum hedge, but it may be coming back... Is that the one across the fence? It was so beautiful! I sure hope it comes back, are they susceptible to the cold. Not sure how cold it got down there. 🤞🙏🤞

Nah - this Summer (so far) it's been hotter at my daughter's place in Boston than it's been in Baton Rouge! Highly unusual weather... But it's been far wetter here than usual as well. I just bought a chain saw to attack the jungle in my back yard! I'll get out & use it once the poison ivy rash I've currently got subsides.

Gloves, boots and a long sleeved shirt that’s buttoned up is your friend. Heavy pair of jeans as well. I’ve done a lot of lumber-jack work around my house and these things I highly recommend. Lots of respect for that saw, PLEASE. Wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to you. I use a gas powered one as well as a battery powered chainsaw. It depends on the job at hand. The battery powered saw would surprise many because it’s really not a toy. Lots of power and does a great job with low maintenance. Plenty of oaks around my house, they keep my saws and myself pretty busy after storms and just keeping the forest from marching towards my house! I blink and it has moved a foot closer! LOL Lots of work but I do love living where I do. Close enough to have neighbors I know and like but far enough to have plenty of privacy and the ability to crank up the tunes ot movies if I so wish! Bottom line, please be careful!

Yeah, I just ordered a "mini" battery powered chain saw. My days of sitting on the ground while trying to pull a 30" bow saw are about done. But my main impediment to grounds maintenance is turning out to be spousal supervision! I not only get supervised as to what to cut, but where to cut it, how to cut it, and how to drag it out of the surrounding landscape. Close to having enough of that...
And yes, I agree with you that long pants, long sleeves, gloves, and a wide-brimmed hat are definitely good things to use (but they sure are hot in the Summertime!). I did find a hat with sponges built inside. You soak the sponges before going out and evaporative cooling keeps your head cooler for almost an hour. The hat brim also keeps the leaves and chips from falling in your eyes and helps prevent the sun from directly heating your head. Recommended!
I've also found that the used 30W non-detergent motor oil drained from the generator makes perfectly fine chain saw lube! Recycling at its finest.
I have a 220V "appliance plug" that plugs into my generator & feeds the manual disconnect switch for the house. But the brass blades of the plug seem to suffer oxidation fairly rapidly. Any idea how to keep those blades from oxidizing?
Thanks!

If it doesn't get direct exposure to water and rain you could try a contact protector like DeoxIt...
If it gets direct exposure to water try something listed as "battery contact protector"... from an automotive store.
(Anything that will protect contacts against battery acid should do well against ordinary rainwater.)
Or something like this:
