If no one beats me to it I can snap some pictures sometime this weekend! Just received my DC-1 yesterday.

Killer little system. I had plans to combined the two, there's a thread I started about it around here some where. I bought the mini-X, but never picked up the DC-1 and the project never materialized. I have since sold the mini-X.
Their chassis dimensions are the same width so they should look pretty cool together, especially if you strip the silver trim from the mini-X.

I agree. I removed the silver trim immediately...

As promised! It's a sweet little setup indeed. I'm glad I didn't wait for the PRE-1 (Exec line) to come out, as this is exactly what I need! Gabe Attachment Deleted

I've actually been running this setup since December '13 (I bought them together on sale) and I love it. It's a small, slick looking system that I found leaves little to be desired in a small room. I've run it through various speakers from the Pioneer BS-22 to B&W 685 and some older 80s pioneers and they all sounded great. For a source I've been using a Zune (WMA Lossless) in a docking station with Toslink to the DC-1 as well as a a PS3 with Toslink audio out.
What's funny is I also took off the silver trim and left the chrome screws. If I didn't know any better I would say someone's been spyin' on me...

I emailed Emotiva the other day asking them about purchasing their new black trim for my 1st gen mini-x... The answer was "no". Booooo . Oh well. I will soon have a dedicated PC music server running for this system. Building one off the new AMD AM1 platform. Maybe I will post pictures when that is set up. Should be great!

Are you using the volume control on the mini or the dc1 I leave the volume pot on the mini-x completely open and adjust with the dc-1. I have found the volume control on the DC-1 to be very good.

Take heart, we will have the new Gen 2 trim for all the sizes soon enough.
I am just reviewing the mechanical drawings now, so they will go into production very soon.

For me the Mini X acts like nothing more than a power amp and the DC-1 is my preamp. The DC-1 has a remote and the volume is .25 dB steps which works perfectly. Also, since the Mini X has a line level out, if you use the DC-1 volume you can run a subwoofer off of the Mini X line out. You could not do this if you use the Mini X volume as the sub woofer volume would never change. I have also heard people mention that the gen 1 Mini X volume control is imperfect, that at some points one channel will be louder than the other. I don't know how true or common this is though.

I have a Gen 1 Mini-X. I don't use it with a DC-1 but with an XDA-2. The combo is fantastic in my bedroom. I too leave the volume on the Mini-X at (near) max and adjust the volume on the XDA-2. There is a slight but noticeable imbalance with the gen 1 Mini-X at lower volume levels. I do not know if this is true in the gen 2 models as well. That said, if you're using the DC-1's volume then this should not be an issue. My only gripe with the Mini-X is the auto signal sensing trigger. If the signal is too low the Mini-X may not turn on or it could even turn itself off. This is easy enough to avoid but something of which to be aware. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with the pair.

Yeah, my mini-x has channel imbalance at very low volume settings as well.

The Mini-X uses a "plain" analog potentiometer Volume control, and ALL analog potentiometer volume controls mistrack a tiny bit. Because Volume controls are logarithmic, you don't notice it at the top of the range, and it gets progressively worse as you turn them down very low. You can spend an awful lot of money on a fancy potentiometer - and it will mistrack LESS - but they all mistrack to some degree. Since the effect is insignificant at higher settings, and only problematic at very low settings, the easiest way to mostly avoid it is to always use analog potentiometer volume controls towards the upper half of their range. The only way to avoid this issue entirely is to use some sort of stepped control (which uses separate resistors for each step). That's why we use digitally controlled analog ladder network volume controls, which are a type of stepped control, on our higher-end equipment. I leave the volume pot on the mini-x completely open and adjust with the dc-1. I have found the volume control on the DC-1 to be very good. Keith, How does the volume control differ in the Sherbourn PA2-50? It is electronic with remote capability I believe.
