There's a Sherborn pa 7-350 for sale that I thought of picking up. Would that be sufficien? WWhat is the difference in Gen 1 and 2 on the XPA 1s? The Gen 1 has a higher gain in addition to less class A watts. I think the Gen 1 had a 32 gain and 10 watts in class A. the Gen 2 has 60 watts class A and 29 gain.

That would be more than enough, it would power almost any speaker imaginable lol The Gen2 XPA-1's do 60 watts of class A, I can never tell a difference with my switch on Class A or Class A/B but that's me, honestly you would be better off with the 1L's or an XPA-5 and a UPA-200 for your 7 channel setup, XPA-5 to power your main 5 channels and the UPA-200 for the Back Surrounds or heights depending on what you are running. Honestly IMO you can't go wrong with any of the amps, it's always samrt to purchase within or close to your budget Chad

Mines ( plural .. right ? ) are great. The gain is 34 . Hasn't been an issue . Warranty I think would be a complete 5 years upon transfer to new owner. No 30 day try out like a new amp from Emotiva.

I had seven UPA-1s and now have five as I sold off two of them. After reading this thread I'm rethinking the notion of buying an Outlaw 7500 and just keeping three of them and using a DIY amp for LR. It's a shame the gain structure will not match. Real shame Emotiva doesn't have a UPA-1 in the gen two XPA series.

Well I picked up a used xpr-2. It answered my question quite well. I can go way past reference and there's no distortion as opposed to my avr. Things are clearer as well. Not mmuch difference at lower to normal volume levels though. The thing is a freaking tank. God Damn.
