I thought I'd take the time on my work break to start this thread so that those of you that have questions about the XMC-1 could ask before you get your XMC-1(you know you want one!). Now that we have been released to talk about the XMC-1, I personally am ready to answer what questions you may have on it's features, how it works and such, and hopefully those that I'm unable to answer, another beta tester or Andrew and Keith(if were real lucky maybe even Dan or Lonnie) will jump in as well. While I have to go back to work in a bit, I'm looking forward to seeing this thread grow with questions and hopefully by the time I get off work those that have already asked questions will have already had them answered by those of us that have had hands on time with the XMC-1 and if not I'll do my best! So shoot!!!

What can you say about the reliability? Are all actions working without hesitation?

What, if any, improvements/fixes have you suggested?

What can you say about the reliability? Are all actions working without hesitation? Such as? I noticed that with my UMC-200, that I sometimes had problems with certain blu-rays/Oppo BDP-93 locking on, none of those movies made the XMC-1 flinch, nor does my Comcast/Motorola set top box be it changing channels, starting & stopping video on demand or changing from 2.0 to 5.1 and back, VERY SMOOTH.

What about us users with a 2.35 screen who use the "zoom" (CIH setup)method to eliminate the black bars on 2.35 movies. Do the menus and popup displays fall within a 2.35 image frame, or do they fall outside of the black bars with 2.35 material?

Is Dirac disabled on the beta XMC-1s or have you been able to test it in your room?
Dave.

What are the capabilities of the PEQ? E.g. for one band the steps in which you can adjust dB, Hz and Q-factor and the maximum and minimum values for dB, Hz and Q-factor.
Thank you!

Are the PEQ's for each channel fully adjustable as far as what frequency range they are able to cover, or are the ranges limited? For example, could you have all 11 bands adjust just the bass frequencies or are only a certain number of bands allocated to each frequency range?
edit - haha, Bolle beat me to it.

Have you done any firmware updates since you received it, and if so how did it go?

I'll add there are quite a few thing that I did not expect to find on the XMC-1, that I've heard complaints about on previous processors. The front panel is able to be turned off completely. It only turns on when changing volume, changing a mode, muting, etc., etc.,etc. OSD pop ups can be set to "ALL" or "USER". You can choose whatever input you'd like to have it on when first powering up, as well as a Turn On Volume(Last Used, -10db, -20db & -30db), and you can also set a Max Volume.

Also when is the manual going to be ready? I'm sure I'll have some more questions after that is posted.

Anyone tried any music network streaming? Are the apps ready? Yeah this. If its going to be a good network music streamer I need to know asap! I bought a SONOS but will take it back as the only functionality I want is to be able to sit in my theater with an iPad and surf my music.

Video passthrough when the unit is turned off?
Anyone try the unit with a 4K display? How does the online menu scale? (or does it at all and is therefore tiny on a 4K display)

Have you done any firmware updates since you received it, and if so how did it go? I didn't do any firmware updates, though the menu selection for this looks to be as easy as pie. It does however have a back up configuration function where you can save your settings to a USB and reload if for any reason you had to do a factory default.

If you can get EMotiva to go ahead and send me mine I will test with 4k for you!

What, if any, improvements/fixes have you suggested? Most of what I commented on about improvements were the remote. The one we received is the metal style which many have seen. I was hoping for more discrete inputs on it. The good news is that the XMC-1 does have some discrete codes and uses the same ones as the UMC-1 so they should be easy to find. I also commented on the battery and changing it. There are no longer screws, but a magnetic cover rather. I personally would opt for a more common battery and a plastic remote that is backlit. We will see if this is something that gets changed. I commented on several of the setup options, but after talking to Emotiva, they were all there, I just wasn't used to the layout or where things were. There is a small learning curve here, but I think many with the UMC-200 will be more used to it. I also had hoped for a more graphical OSD, but was informed the chipset used for this didn't support much in the way of graphics. Many of the items I suggested were nit picking, but I know someone will bring them up at some point.

Have you done any firmware updates since you received it, and if so how did it go? No firmware updates yet. We should have them soon. Many of the items we found and noted were already being addressed by Emotiva.
