Hi everyone, I got a real noobie question for you guys, I'm getting a XSP-1 Gen 2 in a few months, and I plan on getting a Pro-Ject 2Xperience Classic as well, my question is, will the included Sumiko Blue Point No.2 work with the Phono stage of the XSP-1? I know next to nothing about turntables except that it'll probably sound heavenly with Red Dragon amps and Verus Grand Towers. I would greatly appreciate it if someone can shed a little light on impedance matching between Cartridges and phono stages, thank you.

That cart will sound just fine with the MM setting on the XSP-1. No loading necessary as the MM does not allow loading changes , only MC.

If the phono preamp section of the XSP-1 Gen 2 preamp is exactly the XPS-1 then you can use a HOMC cart like the Denon DL-110 or Denon DL-160. I had the XPS-1 phono preamp and was able to use the Denon HOMC carts with no issues whatsoever.

No loading necessary as the MM does not allow loading changes , only MC. wait, I can use a MC cart with MM setting on a preamp? and I plan on joining the mono club as soon as I put this new system of TEAC UD-501 -> XSP-1 -> Red Dragon M500 MKIi -> Verus Grand Towers together...right now the Grand towers are driven by a Denon X2000, not exactly a match made in heaven. Lastly I just want to let everyone know how helpful you all have been, truely rare on the internet these days!

Moving coil cartridges come in quite a few variations, one of them is output. Typically they are Low Output Moving Coil (LOMC), these have outputs in the tenths of a millivolt (0.1 mV). Some are High Output Moving Coil (HOMC), their outputs measure over a millivolt (1 mV). An LOMC cartridge must use the MC settings on the XSP-1 or XPS-1, an HOMC is normally designed to use a MM phono input, so you would set the switch to MM.

That cleared up A LOT of stuff for me, thank you so much

I am still waiting on my secret emotiva lounge decoder ring..... milsap195, I am both happy for you and a little envious ,,,,,,that said . Currently the formation of the " Official " Emotiva Tube Club has not formed due to Dan & Lonnie not selling ME one,,,,,,,,,he,,,,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,,,The paperwork and RED TAPE required for said club is arduous and extensive but also requires the manufacture and sale of said product. Unfortunately! At this time, the formation of the club has hit this impass. My hands are tied untill such time that an Emotive Tube product is available for purchase.
With a heavy heart and sad Two Channel System we must wait patently,,,,,,,,again,,,,,,,,,,for these events before membership can be opened.
Thank You All for your cooperation.
