Took the words right out of my mouth. I'm looking down at my rack... Emotiva XDA-2, Emotiva UMC-200, Emotiva XPR-5, Emotiva XPA-2. Revel Performa3 F208/C208 F12. SVS Sb13. I have more Emotiva products than any other brand. However, I only care about improving my system and nothing more. Emotiva doesn't put food on my table but they do help provide the great sound I enjoy. That's my relationship with Emotiva So would that perhaps qualify you to be labeled as an Emotiva Fan Boy? Yep, no question about it. He is definitely a fan boy. As am I.

Hey, there's no need for name-calling. Besides, you have plenty of time to try Dirac on your laptop before getting your XMC-1 in April 2016. I thought I was paying a complement. Hence the smiley face . And on topic to someone questioning my hearing abilities in a light hearted manner I'm still trying to stick to the April 2016 timeline. But when I get that email...I may be buying 2. I wasn't questioning your hearing abilities. But please, save the light hearted insults. I've had enough.

A light hearted insult is like pissing on his back and telling him it's raining. I think I'll buy three XMC-1 's

Just one is needed to replace that awful onkyo. I replaced mine last fall with oh yeah, another Emotiva. And the 2nd one for me is for my buddy who needs to replace his non-Emotiva pre/pro so he can save his 40% card for the RMC-1 in 2035 .

Now that I clearly think about it (that is quite an accomplishment for me), I think we have a whole herd of Emo Fan Boys (notice the capital letters) here at the lounge. Fan Boys come in herds, don't they?

Trey the fanboi here.
I just wanted to agree that in my system, 24 bits makes more difference than 96 v 48. I just did two needle drops, Cash and Electronic Projects for Musicians, and both, while nice records, were quite well served at 48. I save 96 for my Japanese or MoFi pressings and such. I purchased a couple of downloads at 192 and ripped a dvd-a at the same sampling rate, and in my system, the difference in how it sounds was not worth the extra money. In my system, and to my ears, it is the 24 bits that is easiest to hear. And it sounds wonderful!

I have a question triggered by a comment above: if one wants to buy not one, but two XMC-1 is it possible to do it at once or she/he should wait another indefinite period of time? Some people might have a dedicated HT and a high class bedroom situation or whatever. Theoretically.

Sorry, XMC-1's limited to 6 per customer! Seriously, I presume you can place an order for two XMC-1's if you like. You might have to wait some for availability and shipping. Call Emotiva.
You should understand that anyone ordering two XMC-1's at a time will immediately be labeled as an Emo Fanboy.

He wants the RMC-1 with his 40%. I have the 25% off for life. So the xmc-1 is my end game but his stop gap until his rmc-1 is developed. And why is the friend in quotes? He asks me about the xmc-1 about 2x a month. The 2035 comment was a joke obviously, but he initially had high hopes when Big Dan told him last year at Emofest the XMC-1 will be our later in the year and the RMC-1 this year or something to that effect. He is obviously no longer holding his breath and we can just leave this alone. We are emo fans no doubt but not fanbois. I'm just not that emotionally vested in my audio gear. Btw, save the scolding for your kid. I'm fully grown and then some . Also, I don't remember your polk's...what about them? Do you think they are better than my Revels? That's another matter and not relevant here but Polk's in general are not that great IMHO. Forget the xmc-1..upgrade those first. You wife should stay out of the forums and stay in the kitchen. My wife told me to say that. .

Didn't go over real well As VP of an international corp she decided years back it was easier to hire someone to cook. And clean. She does everything else real well. But I'm glad your wife knows where she belongs. My wife says she is trying to make up for some shortcoming in some other room . You have fun now . Now where is that ignore tab ?

That's not true as some content is DTS-HD MA at 96 kHz and the playback in a theater is also 96 kHz and the Datasat unit processes at 96 kHz. They either didn't have enough compute in the DSP engine OR Emotiva/Jade wasn't willing to spend more money on the DIRAC licensing OR they plan to offer such in the RMC-1 either way the comment "all blue ray audio is 24/48 native already" is simply not true though the majority of film releases is 24/48. The mastering process is 96 kHz so I believe the main reason studios are not releasing at 96 kHz is a concern for exact master copies of the audio track being pirated. Once you get ahold of a bit perfect copy of the master then the copyright holders have nothing else to dangle in front of our noses for future online streaming or distro services to make more $$$ and I guarantee such copies would be total DRM. To be honest though I've heard a bigger difference between 16 bit to 24 bit than I've heard going from 48 to 96 kHz. It should also be noted that Audyssey also only processes at 48 kHz and downsamples during processing even with XT32. You are incorrect... over 99.9% of films work at 24/48.. and none have been delivered to the theaters at 96k. When you get a TrueHD or DTS-HD MA track on BR, it is a bit for bit copy of the original master.

When you get a TrueHD or DTS-HD MA track on BR, it is a bit for bit copy of the original master. You figure? So then you are saying the theatrical distro via Datasat, DD, SDDS and even Atmos (yes it was mastered with Atmos mixing) for Gravity (2013) and the original mastering was done at 5.1 16bit 48 kHz because that's what it is on the Bluray DTS-HD track for the Bluray release. I'm sure they'll triple dip with a higher chan count higher sample rate version. That's total bullshit for digitally projected venues. Perhaps if in a film theater with the APT-X100 system IE using bloody CDs. Dolby had some kinda upmixing trip but most production workflows for big budget films are 96 kHz and certainly not the crappy 4:1 APT-X100 audio old theaters provide from CD sources. I personally think DD on film sounds better than the older DTS system. PS BTW the two big HBO shows are Atmos mixes!

I don't know how to verify this - everything I'm finding online is about the blu ray releases.
