I had a friend that used a belt sander on his records. His records were really shiny.
However, I would be remiss if I did not mention there was a down side...

There are several video's on you tube. This could get expensive.
We tried it here in the office to mixed results. One side it worked rather well, 2nd side, not so much. If you get the ratio, time, speed and everything just right, it's actually quite amazing. Mess up one variable and you'll be shopping for new vinyl.
