A bit of a newbie question... Hope you guys don't mind: This thread intrigued me enough to buy my first SACD and/or Blu-Ray Pure Audio album... Looking for 'Dark Side of the Moon' and I find "Hybrid 5.1 SACD" versions. Does this differ from a "standard" SACD in terms of sound quality? My understanding of a hybrid disk is it contains both CD and SACD versions of the music... Hybrid SACDs contain both redbook (CD) and SACD versions - this means the disc can be played in a regular CD player (redbook tracks) or an SACD player. A standard SACD disc doesn't have the redbook layer and cannot be played on regular CD players. Check the label to be sure.
