I am looking to possibly try mono blocks on my 802d speakers.
But...
They can drop to 3 ohm...
All I can find on the spec sheet is 4 ohm.
Thanks Bill

Hey Bill, I'm pretty sure I've read many an XPA-1 owner say that 2 ohm loads are not a problem, so pretty sure that you'd be safe in this regard. I'm sure some XPA-1 owners will be by shortly to verify my memory, otherwise I know Emotiva customer service would be glad to give you an answer.

While I don't have the XPA-1, I have the XPA-2 (which is the 2-channel version of the XPA-1) and my speakers dip to 2.6 ohm under 80Hz. Never have had a problem no matter how loud I've played them. I assume that you're running your 802d full range, correct?

I also have this question posted in the xpr forum.
Without a spec for the lower ohm draw, how would I know that the amp can down down that low?

How much power do you think you need at 3ohms in your room? Remember speakers are not straight resistors before you answer. You need to know the freq that the 3ohm dip occurs. Then what level will you be listening at the single dip. Then I'll ask what music you have that is that demanding at the freq. You may be overthinking things here.

I wouldn't know the answer to the 3 ohm question.
I just know that my speakers are capable of demanding that resistance.
I may not be gaining all that much, if any, from my current amp..
I just figured I would start my research

XPA-1 does 1800 watts @ 2 ohm load.

I just figured I would start my research Bill If you know that they go down to 3 ohm then the source that told you that will know at what frequency it does that at. Hence, how I know that my dip to 2.6 under 80Hz. What is your current amp?

I don't believe so as I have never experienced something like that.
I am curious to know it'll my speakers are missing Something from all lower amplification.
