On your equipment, do you prefer to keep or remove the protective plastic film?
Please post reasons for your choice.
Personally I prefer to keep it on. Aesthetics don't matter as my gear is in an enclosed cabinet behind the listening/viewing position. I have an IR distribution box hard-wired to each component so IR reception is not an issue (I use an RF->IR approach with my URC remote).

I keep mine on except when it looses its adhesion and starts to peel away. My used gear rarely has it on the display when I get it.

I keep it on unless/until it peels off on its own

If it starts to get air pockets that are noticeable in the plastic I'll remove it, but until then I tend to initially leave it on for finger print/scratch protection until I get the component where I know it will be staying put.

I always remove it. It has been proven that if left on, it causes the display to over heat and fail prematurely.
(Well, I read that on the interweb...so it must be true)

I take it off for no other reason than it bugs me.
And when I remove it, it's as if a veil has been lifted.

I remove it because there is no reason to keep it on.

Leaving it on would upset the balanced inputs to my system,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,,,,,,, NOT. In all seriousness, I always take it off, it's like a right of passage, I paid to peel it off and own it in all of it's glory

I remove the film, but I keep my remotes inside the plastic bag they usually come in. I then put them inside a cut to fit baggy once the original wears out. This keeps the remote clean as a whistle and I have no problem with the IR going through the bag!

I keep it on and I love when I score a piece of used gear where the previous owner has left it on! I like to keep my stuff as close to 'factory fresh' as possible.

It reminds me too much of my grandmother's plastic couch covers that I hated sitting on as a kid...

I always peel it off. It irritates me greatly when I see it on for some reason. I've been reprimanded several times for peeling of the plastics on repair jobs.

As soon as I put it on his shelf I remove them, it's like removing clothes on a woman for the first time.

I remove the plastic film after everything is installed and just right. Why? Because it bugs me otherwise.

As soon as I put it on his shelf I remove them, it's like removing clothes on a woman for the first time. You need a shrink (wrap).
