My XMC-1 arrives today so I guess it didn't impact my decision to buy. (To be honest, I didn't know this capability was missing.) I do consider it an important feature. I make use of it on my UMC-1 with an Oppo BDP-103. Because the Oppo can be used to play Blu-ray's, DVD's, CD's, stream music, stream video, ..., I like being able to create virtual inputs with audio and video settings appropriate for whatever I'm playing. Being able to do that with only one physical input and one cable is fantastic. Without it, I may have to run more cables and manually change settings whenever I change media type.

I voted nice feature to have as there are a few outliers in my mind ; if there was another thread poll where people were asked which had a higher priority - dolby atmos inclusion say or per input access this thread would get a bit more context imho I wouldn't want to inflict such a poll on anyone after the opinions posted here though; a different magnitude possibly- on the RMC1 though Not that I don't appreciate it ; especially with virtual switching of my oppo to different dsp modes with my prepro The other thing is I doubt this will be doable via a firmware upgrade as it sounds like a fundamental rewiring of pcb's and signal rerouting and emo would maybe have considered this already..

Last week Lonnie indicated this could be done with code, so Mark's poll is important to let them know it's still desirable.

This is good news thanks Bruce ; had in my mind that rerouting the 2nd zone outs would give the very desirable extra pair of ceiling speakers but if the back surrounds can be repurposed for 5:2:2 that may do many

Lonnie said the virtual inputs could be done with code. It's also possible that Atmos 5.2.2 can be done with code (we didn't talk in that detail), I assumed he was also talking code, for the Z2 reroute but not sure. Anyway I was only referring to virtual sources (configurable inputs) here.

Just wanted to chime in to say, this feature is also very useful for comparing different connection methods for sound quality, e.g., if you have an Oppo or HTPC, or really any CD/DVD player, and you're not sure which DACs you like better (transport or processor), or whether you prefer HDMI, optical, coax, analog, fancy sound-card vs. motherboard sound, etc. And as mentioned, once you figure that out, you can use it to set up one input for two-channel source material, and another for 5.1/7/1 etc., from the same device using the same connection method (or different audio connection methods with the same video connection, etc., if that's your thing). And for different EQs, or EQ on/off. And for audio with video from a different source. And for audio with no video. And so on... It's rather akin to sliced bread, IMO...though perhaps a bit more useful...

This is a very important feature for me. As my UMC-1 had it, I just assumed that the XMC-1 would have it. Please add this feature back. I used it to have several of the same HDMI inputs with different audio inputs.

This is important to me, but I would still buy the XMC-1 without it.

This is one essential feature that every pre-pro should have.

Curious if anyone heard a response from Emotiva on this feature suggestion?

No. I directly asked numerous times via PM's to Big Dan and Lonnie, and via linking them to various points at which it came up in threads, and no response at all. Dan Laufman or lonnie - care to elaborate? Mark
