Would not normally jump in here but since others are talking, you can see from my signature I have Def Tech's. Are they perfect? Certainly NOT. Have I heard better? Abso-friggin-lutely. Are they the best 5.1 system speakers I heard in 2006 with a $5000 budget for my large variety tastes in music, movies, and all that bla bla bla, no doubt in my mind. Blew everything else away with that budget. Best bang for the buck I heard for sure. Do I know people who love Paradigms? Well, since the only audiophile people I really know personally don't have any, I can only say lots of people on this forum love them. Do I like them? No, not really. As a matter of fact, they fell well down near the bottom during my listening tests. I do not care for their sound. To much mid-range "boxiness" "cupped hands" for me. Not lifelike or real for me. They play loud as hell without distortion, but that's not my bag. I prefer them over Klipsch, but that's not saying much. I will never "rag" on anyone for liking one speaker over another. Speakers are ALL about personal taste, the type of music you listen too (HUGE thing here), your needs, and, if I may say, the way you hear. I have posted many times about this so I'll just leave it at that. I will say these new Paradigms look very nice indeed. 2 big thumbs up there. LOVE the feet!!!! Funny, I thought the mids in were the best trait of Signatures. Didn't experience any "boxiness" or other issues there. Mids were near perfect. Sent from my SM-P600 using proboards

My room is not bright. I know this from demoing speakers in stores, then bringing them home and experiencing warmer sound. Also I have measured my room many times with a Cross Spectrum calibrated mic. Thick carpet, drywall, soft surfaces eveywhere. Probably less bright than your room with the wood panel walls. I have heard the Studio 100's in a HEAVILY treated demo room with Anthem electronics. It still had sibilance. This was what I heard. I'm sorry that you haven't heard a RAAL ribbon tweeter before. Coming from Klipsch, Paradigm will probably sound less bright. Sent from my SM-P600 using proboards Thanks for you post, ya have to remember, which you do, that I do like the sound of horns as well. So, I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla !! Also maybe you should have heard them with some good electronic,,,,like maybe,,,,,,Emotiva gear,,,,he,,,he,,,,snicker,,,,,snicker,,,,,, I heard them(Studio v.5) with Anthem gear in a highly treated room for hours. My Signatures were driven by Emotiva UPA-1's. Anthem and Paradigm are owned by the same company. As such, many dealers have very expensive Anthem gear driving their Paradigms in their demo rooms. Some have said Anthem sounds warm, and have suspecting maybe this was intentional knowing that it will sound more balanced when paired witn Paradigms. Sent from my SM-P600 using proboards

My condolences to your ears. Wow, I've been schooled now!! Thanks!! But really, if YOU don't care for there sound fine, I don't really care! I'm the one that IS enjoying them. Nuff said!

They arent bad sounding speakers. Pretty good actually. I was a noob when I auditioned them and thought they were amazing actually. I was stating my opnion, you threw the first blow so to speak by apologizing for us having bright sounding rooms, and me not having had the Paradigms hooked up to the right equipment. Sorry you were offended by my not liking Paradigms that you had to say that. I was putting my opinion out there. And Paradigm Studios sounding bright is NOT an opinion. It is fact as can be seen in the measurements. It is not a flat measuring tweeter. From your post it is pretty apparent that you care a lot about what I had to say about your speakers. But you shouldn't care what I think or what the measurements say as ling as you like them. Deltadube, please don't tell anyone to get their ears and mind checked. Paradigms are your first pair of decent speakers. I doubt you have heard more than a handful of speakers to have a basis of comparison. And maybe you're the one who should get your hearing checked at your age. It is probably either because you have some high frequency hearing loss(quite normal as you age) or a lack of basis for comparison since you havent heard many other quality speakers that you believe Paradigms arent briht sounding. Am I assuming that you are a certain age and that your Studios are your first foray into hifi? No. I have followed you since your first incoherent posts over at AVS, and was in fact probably the first one to reccommend Emotiva amps to drive your Paradigms. I am not afraid to express my thoughts regarding equipment even when they aren't so positive and back them up with evidence or reasoning. It is not up to me whether people get offended. But once you start throwing personal remarks like "you should check your ears/mind", or "your room or equipment was garbage" without knowing whether I have a treated room or what equipment I used, you can be sure I will fire right back at you. As others have said, we aren't knocking Paradigm, it's all relative, I had the Studio 100's for years and really liked them, I never thought they were bright until I brought the Jamo's, and I thought the Jamo's were great until I brought the Legacy's, which particularly in the highs and upper mids sounded completely different, loads of airy detail without sounding bright. They were just like how I imagined a ribbon tweeter would sound, although I don't actually know if the Air Motion tweeter is a ribbon tweeter, Wikipedia lists them separately. Interestingly if you place your hand about an inch or so from the top of the Air Motion tweeter you can feel the air being pushed out of it. It has been a few years, but the Sigs had less sibilance, were less forward and a less thin sounding midrange. Bad adjectives, but thats what I remember. I would be a happy camper if I had a pair of S8 v.3's, but they would be far from first choice for $10k.
I had the same experience. At the time I auditioned and bought Paradigms, I have never heard anything better. Thats how I spent hours auditioning them. To me, at that time, they were astonishing. But after listening to every pair of speakers I could possibly audition, I have a better understanding which characteristics are important to me.

The only thing I'm worried about is that designer using a 17" ViewSonic CRT circa 2004...

Rooms make speakers sound very very different - personal experience. Some rooms will make a speaker sound bright depending on the speaker. Usually large rooms. So can room treatments improperly applied. (Imo.)

Bonzo, You are one Bitchin' dude! You are really a good guy from what I read on this forum. Take care! Well I'm not sure what to say to this one. I honestly can't tell if you are being serious or sarcastic. But if you are being serious, then thank you. I'm just here to learn for myself, help others when I can, and try to have a little fun along the way. Cheers.

Reading some of the comments here , I was looking at purchasing the studio 60's and cc 590. What other options int the same price range or less can I compare them to? I noticed a lot of comments in regards to getting something better for less. It will be mostly for movies. Don't really care about bass for the fronts,
