Dear Cathy, Dear Dan,
Nine months ago, I started to learn about HiFi and home theatre with the intention to create a nice system to listen to our small collection of CDs and DVDs. My wife and I currently have a TV and a very simple BD player. Needless to say, the sound is not optimal.
After reading many magazines and websites, talking to audiophile club members and spending time with friends, I thought I knew what I wanted for my first real system. Then, I came across Emotiva. Since you have an Internet only distribution, I patiently waited for the Emotiva “On the Road Show” in Los Angeles to arrive and it gave me the opportunity to see all of your products firsthand. I was also looking forward to seeing the new XMC-1 preamp and processor made in the USA. The demos you gave, the honest explanation I got from you and your staff really impressed me.
I signed up and joined the e-Club the night before your show in Los Angeles and was looking forward to attending the event. You organized 4 raffles with an incredible assortment of your products and gift cards and your generosity really showed that you care about your present and future clients. At the 11 o’clock raffle, I could not believe that I won an amplifier. I was really very surprised. Then came the 4 o’clock raffle only for the e-Club members with a brand new XMC-1 as the grand prize. When you confirmed that the last number of a 7 digit number was 7 and the winning ticket that I held in my hands matched all the numbers, I could not contain my excitement. I was so happy that I spontaneously gave you and Cathy a hug. I could not believe that I won again. What are the odds for winning two big prizes in one day?
I will never forget this day with Emotiva in Los Angeles. I hope to visit you in Franklin and my wife and I are really interested to see your production facilities too.
Thank you again for coming to Los Angeles to present your company, your current products and your ideas for the future. The whole day was really "Emotivating".
You have a new Emotiva client for life. Thank you so much for all you do in providing great sound and a great experience to your customers.
Best regards, Sevy

To hemster, tweed, islandman, novisnick, mshump and all the others,
Thank you for your congrats and welcoming wishes,
You are right, my wife and I were on cloud 9 last Saturday in LA.
Our first big experience was last May when we attended T.H.E. Show in Newport Beach, CA Our ears heard a sound that we were not accustom to. It was a real delight.
With the XMC-1, we will try to put a system together that will allow us to enjoy our music and movies for many years to come.
Talk to you soon, Yves/Sevy

Welcome again Sevy, I was there when you won. I even saw the big smile on both you and your wife's face, and think I overheard her say something like 'do you want to get anything else while you're here?'. The WAF doesn't get any better than that. Congrats once again!

Hey Sevy, congratulations on your XMC-1, fantastic news., but, I'm wondering for those of us that were not there - what amplifier did you also win?

Christmas in August. It doesn't get any better than that. Enjoy your new system. Now, to get speakers that are worthy of the Emotiva goodness!

Way to start off your system, if your going to look for speakers gives a budget you feel you can live with and these guys we'll be more than happy to help you as to what would be a good match for your amp.
I bet you did expect to go home with your hands full, lol.
Congrats you half way there.

Congratulations!!!Now you can put your amplifier and processor funds into the kitty for your speaker fund. I'm pretty sure you're now hooked on this hobby (or will be once you set up the XMC-1 ). Oh, and Welcome to the Jungle, Nut House, Forum, Family.

Too all, I have been thinking about writing this post for a week now, and seeing this thread made me feel this is the right time for a response. I have been an Emotiva customer, and I guess fan for well over four years now and honestly have not regretted a day of it.
I found Emotiva when searching for a new processor as my Yanaha RX5000 A was having issues, and most of my input and output devices moved to HDMI. That was about the time that the UMC-1 was beta released, and after several months of watching, I finally purchased the UMC-1, XPA-5, ERD 6.3 and ERD-1's. Foolishly I did not purchase the ERT 8.3’s (Something that I still regret).
I Setup my new system and was astonished at how much better the UCM-1 sounded over the Yamaha processor that cost me more than all the Emo stuff combined . I have been very happy with the system since then, and at some point replaced the UMC-1 with an Integra 40.2. After a month I put the UMC-1 back as even my wife said that the UMC sounded better.
Anyway, I regress. I placed myself on the XMC pre-order list some time after that and like many waited patiently (unlike some) until a week ago when I finally received my confirmation e-mail.
When I called, Miss Cathy happened to answer the phone and during the conversation, I mentioned that I was thinking about the upgrade program to replace a component that I had purchased. I was shocked at the offer they presented to me, and to be honest the thought that crossed my mind was what wonderful people I was dealing with.
To me, the response was spontaneous and genuine and I felt that it reflected all the positive things that I have heard about Dan and Cathy over the years and the reflection of a company that really placed it's customers above all else, even at times at the expenses of themselves and their public image.
There are a lot of Emotiva bashers out there who just can’t understand why Emotiva has such a loyal base and I would just like to say to them……
You just don’t really know what your missing!
