I just set up my XMC-1 and have found a few peculiarities, but the one that bears mentioning is the IP address issue. I found that the unit will not pull an IP address with DHCP set with an "X" in the box, turning it on. The IP comes up with incorrect information when set this way:
Subnet: 255.0.0.0
IP: 62.0.0.0
DHCP: X
DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
DNS 2: 208.67.222.222
Gateway: 0.0.0.0
When I remove the "X" from DHCP, I get the proper IP, subnet, gateway, etc. If I have the IP set and then check DHCP with an "X" in the box, the IP stays the same until I move the cursor (or whatever you would call it) back to the DHCP menu selection, at which time the settings revert back to the wrong numbers.
By the way, the XMC-1 set the IP and everything via DHCP after I told it not to do so. This is okay, as I have an IP address, but this is something that might need to be addressed.

EDIT: Now it is just losing the DNS information when set to DHCP, everything else is staying. Let me restart it one more time... maybe it will start working after another reset. EDIT 2: I restarted and the problem is back. I recorded a video showing the issue and I am uploading it to YouTube. I will post the link in just a moment. |

What can you do with it over a network right now? I don't think you can do anything on the network at the moment. I just like to get everything set up and ready... and this is something that wasn't working exactly right, so I figured that Emotiva would like to hear about it. |

^Have you tried a cold boot to ensure it forgets about the network? I would shut it down, remove the network cable, boot it back up and then reinsert the cable and see how that goes.

I seem to remember someone else posting about the DHCP botton being reversed, but I can't find it right now. My memory may be faulty, but that video certainly makes it looks like the button is operating in bizarro world. Post in the bug tracking thread, and see if you get any traction there.
If you select DHCP, does it allow you to manually input the IP information?

DHCP worked fine on mine when checked DHCP
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
IP: 192.168.1.117
DHCP: X
DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
DNS 2: 208.67.222.222
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Why is your Subnet 255.0.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0 ?
Do you get a MAC Address?

Do you get a MAC Address? Yep... there is a MAC address in the information section. EDIT: The subnet is messed up when DHCP is checked... it is 255.255.255.0 when it is unchecked. Yup… mine exhibited the same behavior. I just left it "unchecked" and pinged it from my router to make sure it was working (which it is).
I agree… I think the toggle is working "backwards".

Keith any chance that the network control capability is coming soon? I can buy an ip to ir adapter for Roomie remote and control the unit that way, but I would certainly rather forgo the extra hassle and expense. Is this coming soon or if I want that should I just bite the bullet and buy that adapter?

Yes… I did try a hard reset, but it made no difference. Mine has maintained a network connection (with DHCP unchecked), so I've never given it a second thought until I read this post. |
