Hi nick! You ever catch all my posts about how important toe in is ? hehe! Also of surprise, small movements of the speaker, closer and farther apart from each other AND also the same towards you. Okay - my so stupid mistakes. 1. Stepping on my HD600's and breaking the carbon fiber headband. Now it's held on by string and superglue! Still sounds great though. 2. Reviewing my USP-1 unit which I had paired with the XPA-2 and an XDA-1. I wrote many pages of gushing reviews about how great the sound was until I noticed that both my bass speakers on the right tower were not hooked up! Hehe. A similar situation happened recently with some gear but I am too embarrassed to talk about that! 3. But my number one regret is - not spending the cash - no matter how tight and upgrading my audio and video gear earler. Usually my purchases tend to be wise and solid but I put it off because of the large expenditure involved. But whenever I get a new piece of gear, I always think - what was I thinking waiting so long?! I do catch a lot of your posts , and I've always agreed and thought that tweeking the positions of our speakers was very important. But what I'm talking about was a radical movement out. I guess I could see the inside edge of my speakers and would guess I'd see 2" from front point edge to back, my new adjustment I can see about 5 " of side. That's very wide for how I usually set up my speakers. they now point to the wall behind me more then just behind my ears, I still sit on a point of the equilateral triangle in front of them. The speakers excel in dispersal of sound much wider then I thought. Happy !!!!

Biggest mistake? Choosing the Sonance DAB-1 for my whole house audio system. This is going back to '07, but what a poor (and very expensive) decision.
2nd biggest mistake was selling my American made, B.C. Rich Warlock guitar that my father bought me.
3rd biggest mistake was selling my '70s-era Marantz tuner preamp that I had I had inherited from my brother, at a tag sale for like $10.
That's enough for now..... I'm beginning to feel nauseous....

Biggest audiophile/HT mistakes...
1.) Selling off MartinLogan CLS IIzs ...twice. 2.) Paying over $10,000 (just for installation) for a custom installed theater I rarely used. 3.) Bad mouthing technical advances before a) knowing the true facts or b) because I was encouraged to by those higher up. 4.) Believing in and getting swept up in CE hype. 5.) Spending more than $10 on any cable.

Andrew lamented: "5.) Spending more than $10 on any cable."
Hear, hear! Having an EE background, I will *never* understand the mania surrounding uber-expensive cabling. In my profession, we use bone stock, good quality cabling to pass MHz-GHz level signals with perfect results. Audio, operating at the KHz level, is much less demanding of signal transfers. As long as your cables are well constructed, and use good quality terminators, you have nothing to gain from cable "jewelry"...

> Andrew lamented: "5.) Spending more than $10 on any cable."
Yesterday is was suddenly alarmed by a very loud hum/buzz that burst out of my subwoofer. It was loud enough that I worried about damage and it hurt my ears. Wiggling it's $7 Radio Shack RCA cable fixed it; bad connection. I often leave the music playing when I run out to the store, etc. I would have had angry neighbours (apartment) and perhaps a blown Sub if it happened then. So $7 interconnects are unwise; get the $12 ones.
Actually, once the XMC-1 arrives, I'll be switching to XLRs (already purchased at the EMO 20% off sale); I really like their robust connectors.
Sincerely /b

Regarding #3, Are you talking about advertisers or an employer? I've never been in a position to have someone encouraging me to bad-mouth a technical advance, so I was curious.

Theater room build.
1. Not planning a return air vent near the ceiling. "Small theater rooms get hot" 2. Waisted about $300 in cables in my walls, not being used or faulty HMDI cables. 3. Not making cables in the wall easy to replace. 4. Thinking I could put all my gear in my tiny theater room and not feel cramped. "fixing this now, there was a closet in the perfect location all along."

You gotta lot of time on your hands to think of such thought provoking subjects.... Actually, no. I don't. It's the most precious thing I have. I'm involved a lot with several different community projects as well as a couple of businesses, marriage and raising a couple of 80 year old parents. This is a hobby, another community, passion and yes, sometimes thought provoking place to meet and greet. As well as learn and teach. Less on the teach with me,,,,,he,,,,he,,,,, have to learn a lot more. Life is so short and fragile. anyway, I can multitask very well also. No time to spare, too much to do. God bless and good night all. Actually, I'm jealous that you can do all that!

Never thought I would get so organized , but found that it's the only way I can fit it all in before I meet my Maker. Still amazes me, where I've come from, the road I've traveled and where I am now in life! Blessed for sure!

On that you are correct, the ML will never replace the IIIB's I had but it was the best option at the time for the money spent, LOL did not have $5000 to replace the Infinity's with something any where near their sound.

My friend, you don't stand alone in the second's department! I will make a good decision and keep my Betsy. I figure she puts up with me and my idiosyncacies, and that is not easy. So, I can put up with hers. Now, I just hope she keeps me! Mark

Storing an original Well Tempered Turntable in an overheated location where the temperatures were hot enough to melt the adhesive holding the base layers together. That and somehow losing part of the companion tonearm, rendering it inoperable.
