Perhaps a b stock xpa-3 would fit the bill as the LCR combo can provide much of the dynamics in your movies☺

Hey Trey, have you compared listening to the Denon with amps through it to the umc-200 setup? I'm curious as to whether the amps opened up the Denon by itself. Thank you all for all the recommendations so far. It sure is easy to spend someone else's money isn't it? I'm still mulling over all my options, I don't have a quick trigger, Thank God!!! I don't think I spent a grand on my entire current setup so a grand for amps or amp and pre/pro isn't to be taken lightly as others have suggested!

Anyone have an answer about the 10% membership discount through Amazon? I ask because I can get interest free financing through Amazon. And since it technically comes from Emotiva, I was curious whether the $49 membership would be a good idea.

Hey SV, I think I got the UMC 200 first, so I used the amp section of the Denon with the UMC pre/pro rather than the processor section of the Denon. But using the processing section of an avr while upping the amplification is a very valid choice and will kick up the sound immediately. Even though they are rated at 80watts per channel, the cheap Emo multi amps are rated at 80 watts with ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN! That is much different and much more powerful than an avr that is rated at 125 watts with only two channels driven. So upgrading the amplification of your surround will be very noticeable in terms of dynamics and clarity.

Call Emotiva to know what they actually have in B stock. B stock is refurbished at less cost.

The way the E-Club discounts are applied by logging onto the Emotiva website would seem to preclude its use in other places. You can buy through Emotiva and pay for your purchase with PayPal, which allows you to make payments over time for some purchases. My suggestion is that you call Emotiva sales and ask them how to make it happen.

I just went thru a similar exercise/decision...Purchased the UPA-700. Performed very well and enhanced sound quality for both 2 channel and 5.1 listening pleasure. Unfortunately, my Definitive LCR's are power hogs and the UPA just didn't have enough kick for my liking. Fortunately, Emotiva has a great return policy (30 days ), and 10% off if you are an E-Club member. Purchased the XPA-5 and was blown away with it's performance. Perhaps start with the UPA-700 with a option to exchange for the XPA-5, if needed. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Just my .02

OK, to update, had an order for a first Gen xpa-5 fall through. Seller backed out. So my question now is if I get the xpa-1l for left and right to improve stereo listening will home theater listening be lopsided? Or will I be okay til maybe getting a 5 channel for the rest?

The XPA-1 L could easily be the last amp you ever own. (Same goes for the XPA-5.). So if you think about it this way, it's not a bad idea cost wise to go for the XPA-1 L - especially if you listen to music. But both ideas are good. I personally listen to 2 channel so those are on my next upgrade list.

I love the enthusiasm of you folks! Still curious though how surround sound will be affected by amping just the FL and FR and not the center? Also, as mentioned by a previous poster, anyone ever drop from 7.1 to 5.1? I played around a bit going from one to the other and don't know that there's too much difference. I'm going to try out front wides and highs tomorrow to see if I like either of those better.

Personally if your more of a HT user than 2ch go for a multichannel amp, have you called Emotiva regarding a B-stock XPA-3 or XPA-5, it would be one that was repaired either due to shipping damage or just plain old having a defect or it could also be a trade in unit from the E-Club trade in program I believe. It looks to me like the Jamos are 89db@1 watt and are a 6 ohm load. The upa 700 will handle it just fine. As far as sound qaulity I would go with seperate. Get the umc-200 and upa-700. The upa will have plenty of power with those speakers. 89db@1watt, 92db@2watt, 95db@4watt. 98db@8watt......etc..... I have the same combination and I am very pleased, musically and financially.

Quick update: Sub crapped out, so I split the difference. Ordered a upa-700 and a NXG NX-BAS-500 sub. Baby steps...
MaisterK, you have the umc-200 and upa-700 or Jamo speakers and upa-700?

So, I've received my UPA-700 and NXG sub and... wow. Just wow. Had no idea what a difference the two would make. The sub is simply sensational with everything I've thrown at it musically and home theater wise. The amp "presented" my speakers to me for what seems to be the first time. Amazing the sounds I can now hear from every direction. It's like my ears have been opened and I'm being bombarded with sonic clarity! Unfortunately it has presented a problem I didn't know existed till now. Directv apparently has an issue where scenes on some HD channels with lots of action present a crackling noise from the speakers. NO other source does this and it happens with every set of speakers thrown into the front positions. Luckily it's not happening with every channel and is just a minor inconvenience. Other than that, as MaisterK said, "I am very pleased, musically and financially." UMC-200 is definitely the next baby step...

Chad No, used equipment isn't sold B stock. They usually peddle used stuff on eBay. I believe B stock is mostly customer returns.
