This is an official request to Dan or Lonnie to give us an update on Dirac. No sugar coatings, just the unvarnished information. It would only take a few minuets of their time.
We have purchased this product on a promise of completion, (it is a very nice product without Dirac) so the least they can do is keep the people who are helping to finance the final product some information.

Why is it that if it is more complicated than a cracked display screen or shipping damage we never here anything from them, celluloid heroes?

That's good news Mark. I just got my second confirmation for the XMC and passed again to wait for Dirac. The longer I wait for Dirac, the more the UMC-200 is calling my name.

I've been having those thoughts too. If Dirac arrives soon and works wonders I may be swayed back to XMC-1 territory. iOS app and iRule device driver would help too. I am in the process of moving my amps to eliminate the need for long XLR interconnects. Opens up possibilities.

They did in LA...said that they were on track for September. Mark They were also confident we'd see it in Chicago, so keep your salt handy. Negativity aside, my current theory is that Emotiva's latest forum silence is because they are in the last stages of an all hands on deck push to get Dirac out the door. Seems reasonable to me...

Just reporting what was said most recently...not making any bets. We know we won't get any real details until it is ready.

You'll know exactly when we do. The situation isn't like building a house, where you can calculate exactly how many hours it will take to put up the last xx number of beams or pour xx yards of cement. It's more like writing a great novel, and now they want you to promise what time today you'll have thought up the perfect ending.... All right, I'm in a flowery mood tonight.... but the reality is that Dirac is basically done. We're basically finishing up things like where to put the buttons on the screen, and what they're going to say... and finalizing the network communication part of things. (It works fine on our computers, on our network, but we'll all be happier if it also works on your computer when you get it installed at home. This isn't quite as bad as finishing a great novel, but it could take five minutes, five hours, or five days to get it perfect - or at least as close as humanly possible... and then we've got to test it for a while and make sure it's right.) Don't worry, it won't be long.

You're definitely right, I should have said his reply should calm some of our nerves, as I'm not in the least bit worried about DIRAC. Don't worry, it won't be long. Keith, you da man! Thanks for the detailed update. Sounds like all is well, and we will all be looking forward (even us current non-owners)to see what Dirac can do. Initially, I wasn't too hip on getting an XMC-1 due to no legacy video. However, all of the early reports on the XMC-1's SQ have been super positive, and that's without Dirac. If Dirac is as half as powerful as I imagine it to be, then it just may be the feature that pushes me over the edge. The fact that the XMC-1's audio is on par (or even better than) with the XSP-1 AND DC-1 was actually the "kicker" that made me re-think my entire setup. I already have the amps for all 7 channels and dual Emo U Sub 12's...so the switch could be painless and rewarding ultimately. To further "test myself" to see if I could make the switch and remain happy, I have removed all sources from my system and now have only my PC (cheap laptop with external storage added) running HDMI into my Yamaha and HDMI to my TV. That's it. XBMC for movie playback and FooBar2k for music. Music now sounds like garbage (after removing the XSP-1) but that is the fault of my Yammy, the XMC-1 should restore the sound I am used to for music, and give me a quantum leap for movies.

Yeh, the 667 isn't near the top of there line, that would do it. I'm sure, no I'm positive that the XMC-1 will be a huge jump forward for you from the 667!!! I grew up on Yamaha products and love what they do but there is no comparison of the two units I'm sure. I've owned or still own and older unit from years ago that took a lightning strike and only lost the FM, and a 663, 773, and my 3020 which is a cats meow!!! And has me at an impasse as to why I need/want the XMC-1! But you sir, I have no idea why you don't own a XMC-1 yet? ? I would if I were in your position . Good luck and please keep us posted. Nick
