(It works fine on our computers, on our network, but we'll all be happier if it also works on your computer when you get it installed at home. Do Mac's count as computers too?

You'll know exactly when we do. The situation isn't like building a house, where you can calculate exactly how many hours it will take to put up the last xx number of beams or pour xx yards of cement. It's more like writing a great novel, and now they want you to promise what time today you'll have thought up the perfect ending.... All right, I'm in a flowery mood tonight.... but the reality is that Dirac is basically done. We're basically finishing up things like where to put the buttons on the screen, and what they're going to say... and finalizing the network communication part of things. (It works fine on our computers, on our network, but we'll all be happier if it also works on your computer when you get it installed at home. This isn't quite as bad as finishing a great novel, but it could take five minutes, five hours, or five days to get it perfect - or at least as close as humanly possible... and then we've got to test it for a while and make sure it's right.) Don't worry, it won't be long. That sounds great Keith. BTW any ETA on releasing an ethernet control API or iPad/Android app?

Well, having written quite a bit of software that communicates over the web, the months and months it is taking for you guys to get your box to talk to Dirac's servers is waaaayy longer than it shoulda taken. Get somebody in there who knows how to do what is really pretty basic stuff and finish the the darn thing...

Though Keith didn't mention it another thing to consider is that they have a firmware update queued to be released with Dirac. I'm guessing part of the update is required to implement Dirac, and other parts to fix bugs and issues discovered since the XMC release. Hopefully they're not caught up adding 'one more thing' before release, but that it will be a nice package of Dirac as well as a few new features and fixes.

> Neurotic: a person who is always fearful or worried about something.(According to Webster). Psychotic: A person who thinks he is seeing a Unicorn dancing on the front lawn. Neurotic: a person who knows Unicorn isn't there, but it still bothers him an awful lot. Sincerely /b I just spoke to the unicorn that's not really on my lawn, and we are in agreement that we both resent the implications!

SCT It's been two months since it was stated that the network communications part was what was missing. Maybe they started it then, maybe not. "Months and months" is a bit overstated. Kinda depends on what protocols and API are involved...and what info Dirac provides on it. I'd like to think they're using simple, standard, open-source protocols, with a sensible API and a well-written, concise ICD...but that's not always the case. Nor is it always easy to hire expertise, if you don't have an appealing, longer-term position to offer.

Would it at all be possible to get weekly updates on Friday? Just maybe a heads up on what the status is? Dirac seems to be a pretty big/touchy subject so I personally wouldn't mind another small update like the one Keith provided last Friday.

Maybe time for a podcast, I don't think the last one ever worked properly anyway.

It truly is a shame they locked your thread, our truly awesome moderators occasionally seem awfully thin skinned about Emotiva and their closely guarded trade secrets?

It truly is a shame they locked your thread, our truly awesome moderators occasionally seem awfully thin skinned about Emotiva and their closely guarded trade secrets? Probably best to just drop it. But it definitely left a sour taste in my mouth - and leaves me feeling that this is not really a community I want to be heavily involved with. I'll probably vanish once the Dirac upgrade is out and I'm no longer obsessing over it's release

Most of the folks here are die hard fans and good people. I encourage you to stick it out. It's a pretty great community. Emotiva, like music, evokes strong emotions in people. It's an aptly named company.

Lets just give Emotiva till the end of this month to see if they release Dirac. Then we can start speculating and getting more threads locked up. They did finally release the XMC-1 isn't that a good start tho.

Just to be clear, and as the "Thin Skinned" moderator that closed the other thread thinking that the OP wanted it closed per his own words I guess we should just lock this thread and move on. No questions will be tolerated - move along citizen. I apologize to the OP of the other thread, but if you don't want your own thread locked in the future then I suggest that you not state as such. There were no emoticons with rolling eyes, so I took the statement literally as I genuinely and literally thought you'd had enough of what you referred to as pitchforks. Again, my bad. It truly is a shame they locked your thread, our truly awesome moderators occasionally seem awfully thin skinned about Emotiva and their closely guarded trade secrets? .............and your thread is now again open for business.

I was being sarcastic, but I should have added appropriate emoticons as it's pretty easy to misunderstand text.
No harm no foul, and since the threads been updated with an official answer it has served it's purpose at this point.
Good to hear the upgrade option for user configurable target curves is till on track.
