IOS 8?

The 6+ is too big for me, held them both. The 6 does very well in the tests I posted above too, 6+ not far behind and seems the most popular (though my 128 Space Grey 6 will be a while to get here). If your 5 is an early one you might check about the battery replacement. iPhone 5 Battery ReplacementI checked mine about a month or so ago and it wasn't part of the replacement program. If I need to replace it, I'll just buy a replacement battery and use one of the many YouTube videos on how to replace.

So Nick, what iDevices are you using? Im enjoying 8 but have relatively new iPad Air and iPhone 5, is it still the battery issue or crashes too? The most annoying thing I've noticed is when navigating some web sites the pop ups or screen view with keyboard can become hard to maneuver, maybe this is related to Safari issues like the picture posting. I need to see if Chrome is affected.

Safari takes all day to load, can't post pictures and in general I've had to hard boot my iPad 2 several times for the first time that I've owned it.
Same with my iPhone 5. Total crashes, frozen screen, no screen and unresponsive. Really , really bad taste in my mouth for the first time.
They really need to fix this fast. I thought it was fine at first and installed on my 5 and two iPad 2s
My wife's phone still works great,,,,,ios8 not installed!
Yuck!!

Sorry it's going so poorly for you, I guess I've been as lucky as Porscheguy and his UMC-1 (just a tease I read in another thread, actually my UMC-1 has been fine lately too). You aren't alone though, there's a link below showing high crash rates for iOS 8. I know you're not too happy now but besides the crash link there's a tuning iOS8 link, and a battery life tips link too. Hope some updates are on the way. www.cultofmac.com/297527/ios-8-crash-rate-78-higher-ios-7/gizmodo.com/how-to-take-care-of-your-smartphone-battery-the-right-w-513217256/1638076629/+ericlimerfieldguide.gizmodo.com/disabling-the-ios-8-features-you-might-not-actually-wan-1638048713/+ericlimerWow, I almost feel like bootman! Updating my vote to yes I like it. Once I figured out my corporate email was the culprit of my battery life, I went ahead and upgraded from the S5 to 6 and so far, awesome. I am waiting to weigh in on the new landscape keyboard though got to get used to that.

To be clear, this refers to a new iOS 8.01 (which most of us never saw because it was pulled) not the iOS 8.0 released last week. The bad news (for those like Nick) is that the update (8.02?) is now further away.

The bad news (for those like Nick) is that the update (8.02?) is now further away. I'd be willing to bet that the next version is not far away at all. I had been hesitant to update up to now, so this bit of news will have me waiting for the next version to prove itself.

How about with the iPad air 32gb, would it be better to update to iOS 8 coming from 7.1.2. Thanks again.

How about with the iPad air 32gb, would it be better to update to iOS 8 coming from 7.1.2. Thanks again. I'm using an iPad Air 64 and I'm enjoying iOS 8. I'm getting better using the predictive typing to save time, the pinch Tab / Page view in Safari is a nice visual reminder of what sites you're on, I was interested in the Health app on the phone but it's not talking to anything yet. I'm getting pretty fast swiping eMail out of my inbox. Also using the last contacts that pop up when you double click. Haven't tried the timed camera or the SoundCloud type feature now built into Siri. We discussed the Safari bug about posting pictures, but Chrome is a workaround for now. I haven't had a lot of crashes and don't notice much of a slowdown, but others may disagree (link above discusses crashes). I've done some of the battery tips so that's been fine too. At this point it seems like 8.02 (or whatever it will be) should be out soon, I'd probably wait a couple days to see, but I have no regrets I upgraded. You will need at least 6GB free space to do the upgrade so clean up first.

"myself don't hate Apple, I had an iPhone, use an older iPad from which I purchased from Monkumonku and have a Mac Mini for my music library, it just amazes me how these phone get released twice a year and people go haywire and it's front page news haha especially considering the price point, and yes I know they release all the other phones once or twice a year but at least they are much more affordable, my galaxy S3 has battery issues and I can barely use it anymore but at least it was $0 when I signed my contract."
They get released once a year. It's sensible way to market a product. Look to the auto industry, medical devices, etc, people who know manufacturing and know marketing don't release products willy nilly. It's too hard for customers to keep track.
People go mad for them because they have a contract up and they want the features of the new phone. Apple brings it.
I don't get why Americans are so bad with economics. You get a contract for phone services that includes a phone. The two year contract is likely in the area of $2000. An extra $200 for a phone means it's 10% more. Pretty marginal given that you use it so much.

So just updated my iPadAir to iOS 8.02; brights are brighter, whites are whiter, veils are lifted, and it runs circles around iOS 8.0 (if I leave my iPhone on the floor and run in circles with my iPad). For my first trick I will post a picture using Safari ... nothing up my sleeve ... PRESTO! OK ... We're at least back to where we started ! Here are the iOS 8.02 Updates:

^Good to hear that the new version resolves several known issues. Shows they're progressing issues best they can.
Mind you, I doubt you'll get many Apple (dare I say it.. fanboys) complaining about the lack of QA Apple did prior to releasing the old version.
With the XMC they'd have shouted:
- Where are the beta testers? - Why didn't the infamous beta testers find such obvious bugs? - Sheesh! Are we the paying public doing their QA for them?
Tim Cook is standing by to answer these in Apple's forum. I think not.

Not sure about Mr Cook's shoes, but I've seen Dan's and his shoes are a might big for my feet to fill.

Armchair CEOs must also envision they can throw the winning touchdown in the Superbowl.. after all, how hard can it be? Catch the ball. step back and throw!

foggy1956, your last two posts were quotes only and no response from you, so I deleted them. Let me guess, you're having problems with the iOS 8 proboards app?
