Do any of you use the asynchronous USB input on the XMC-1? That is a nice feature the UMC-200 does not have and can provide real value for someone using a computer to play music files. I do and it's as smooth as silk, but currently limited to 24/96k output.

I guess I kind of glazed over the build quality. I think the pic should speak for its self. Attachments:

I have a question for everyone here. EmoEQ failed miserably with my all Magnepan setup. When I called Emotiva support they confirmed that EmoEQ has issues with diapole/planner/electrostatic speakers so I was recommended to leave it in flat and manually adjust levels and speaker distance. I managed to buy UMiK and used REW to do manual config. But now that I got email from Emotiva indicating my reservation for the XMC-1 is ready for purchase I feel hesitant to order it as I don't think even with DIRC implementation the issue with my type of speakers would be resolved. Furthermore, I also have XSP-1 for my analog needs so any thoughts on whether my system would benefit with XMC-1? I am very interested in the outcome of this one. I too have a very similar setup and take delivery of my XMC-1 on Monday. I was going to download the trial Dirac, but have been unable to obtain information on the proper MIC to use that will also work with the XMC-1. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I will be replacing an Integra 80.3 pre/pro with the XMC-1. The Audyssey system worked great and sounds great in my theater. I was hoping that the XMC-1 and Dirac will sound even better. The hardest part right now is the wait for UPS to show up and deliver my new toy.

This speaker also produces sound from the front and back. onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=A511D833FA1D5C22&resid=A511D833FA1D5C22%2112756&authkey=APuSIwpEPvy8a4ETake a look at it, I think Dirac will be fine for bipole speakers.

Emotiva's plan was to give a mic to all who get the XMC. Personally, I like the microphones from www.cross-spectrum.com/ The UUM or UMIK will serve you well. If you are just looking for a proof of concept with Dirac. Get a radio shack SPL meter and a connect it to your computer running dirac. Also note that you will need a computer with an audio out to the XMC to even test Dirac. Tony

Hi Tony,
I'm really interested in hearing your thoughts on what I said earlier with regards to Dirac and multiple subs. You've spent more time with Dirac than most people here on the Lounge, so I'd like your input:

Hi Tony, I'm really interested in hearing your thoughts on what I said earlier with regards to Dirac and multiple subs. You've spent more time with Dirac than most people here on the Lounge, so I'd like your input: Bluscale, The trial version only does 7.1. The subwoofers are combined. Nobody besides emotiva and maybe a few beta testers know what the XMC specific version will do. As far as my guess would go... I think Dirac will only do mono sub eq. But something interesting happens when you attempt to confuse dirac with two sounds coming in at different times. (This is why there is concern with bipole speakers)(and with 2 subs at different distances you have created a bipole subwoofer) Dirac somehow manages to tame the impulse still. Download the Audyssey vs Dirac file I posted and take a look at the impulse response of the left base vs the Dirac Left. Its pretty amazing what can be done in software. Now, (here is where things can get exciting) If Dirac were to really put some time and energy into having multiple subwoofers to time align the subs first (which I think there is a good chance of this happening) then borrow some of the technology used in Dirac Unison (which I have only read about)(and I do not think that there is a great chance of this happening) they could in theory use the left sub to tame the right sub and vise versa. There is potential for this to phenomenal, however, how much work will Dirac be willing to do on something that they are only getting licensing fees from? Will they reach into the newest technology of theirs and give it away for pennies? Tony

If no HDMI, then your headphone jack doubles as a mini Toslink optical output (which requires a mini Toslink cable). Hope this helps.....

One slight correction... Dirac will "instruct" your XMC-1 to play the test tones via the network connection. You don't need a separate analog audio output on your computer. Sorry Keith, I am a little slow...."network connection" does this mean wifi? Your XMC will be connected likely via Ethernet so as long as your host PC is on the same network either via wire or wireless you will be good to go.

Tony Tony, Do you know if Emotiva's plan is to supply a calibrated mic or something similar to the cheap mics supplied with the big brands? Have they said anything about this? Don't want to buy one if we are going to get one soon, but if we aregoint to get a cheap piece, I would rather buy a better one. kevin

This was last years emofest. I am guessing they are doing batch calibrated usb measurement microphones. TONY

Having asked so many questions of Dan & Lonnie in Los Angeles, I want to say the microphones are being built in-house, and are similar in appearance to the MiniDSP UMIK-1 and such. Maybe Dan/Lonnie/Keith will clarify this for us.
