Hello,
My Fusion 8100 is dropping sound intermittently. I have it connected to my Dish Hopper using HDMI cables.
I do not know if this is caused by signal loss for certain channels or something else.
I tried watching a movie through youtube and the sound cuts out from time to time.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I called Dish and was told that my primetime channels were having issues and would be resolved this month. But youtube is doing this also.

Do you have any other source to try (bluray or dvd player) just to rule out the 8100? YouTube dropping may point to a network issue. How is the Hopper connected to the internet?

Rented a Blu-Ray and the sound is cutting out and the DTS shows on the screen. Not happy at all. Do you think it is a bad unit?

Is the sound also cutting out from other sources too? Can you try with other sources?

Yes, it is cutting out when watching Primeztime shows from DISH. But I was told they might be having signal issues in my area and are working on it.

I have an older receiver (Marantz) and will try playing the Blu-Ray movie tomorrow to make sure it is not the player or disk. This is very frustrating.

Looks like it is the 8100. I put in a music video (Fleetwood Mac) and first song started cutting out. I then setup my old Marantz and repeated the song and no problems.
Did the same with the movie I tried to watch last night and no problems.
So did I jst get a bad unit or is the quality control an issue?

Call Emotiva on Monday and they will take care of you.
As far as a QC issue, if that was the case you would see a bunch of posts just like yours, no? ...and don't confuse HDMI issues with this one. Everyone gets those every once in a while with any gear.

Got an RMA, they wanted me to try a factory reset (load defaults). Played a music video and it is dropping sound, played song over and it did not drop, played it again and it dropped.
The person I spoke with that told me to do the load defaults, said they were all like this. not very confident in there support. I have to pay return shipping also unless I get a replacement.
Looking at other options (receivers) and trying to decide.

Believe it or not, I am still waiting for the shipping label.
I have called sever times and the final call was told the label printer was not working and they would mail the label to me. I never received the label, so I called a couple of days ago and was told it was mailed. I explained I never reveived it and they told me they would mail it out again.
So I am still waiting and my money is tied up so I cannot purchased another AVR.

Yep, looks like you got a defective unit. Since you're within the 30 day trial, just send it back and buy another or look for something else. BTW, be sure to look thru the Emporium here, there are some great deals on units that would work quite well for you...

They told me they would pay the return shipping as the unit is defective.
I just got my new label and will be shipping it back on Monday.

I think I'm having the same issue when but only when I watch through my Comcast cable box either live, recorded on on-demand shows. It's intermittent and I never really thought it was a big deal. The sound would get muted for a couple of seconds and then the audio source will be displayed on the TV, as if you were switching sources. Otherwise I mostly have my laptop connected via HDMI for movies/youtube/iTunes etc. No sound issues with the laptop just with the cable box. I'm thinking it's an issue with the cable box so I never bothered to do a return. Everything else is fine.
