Hello all,
I have two XPA-1 Gen 2 amps hooked up to my XMC-1, and have noticed that one of them starts clicking from time to time. It's irregular, but happens after the amp has been on for around 30 minutes or so. It sounds almost like some circuit is switching over. Interestingly, though, I don't hear it from the left-channel amp. Is this normal operation?
Cheers, Nathan Zachary

If the sound you're hearing is just a slight sort of clinking, then it may simply be the slight differences in expansion as the aluminum heat sinks and the steel chassis warm up (aluminum expands a lot more than steel when it gets warm). If that's what it is, then it's perfectly normal - although some amps do it a tiny bit more than others. If so, and it bothers you, loosening then re-tightening the screws that secure the heat sinks to the bottom of the case sometimes helps. (Only loosen them slightly - DO NOT remove them altogether.) I had a feeling that it would be related to the heat sinks. I've heard a similar sound from many of my servers before, especially if there are ambient temperature fluctuations in the room. Thanks for the information, Keith. It doesn't bother me very badly at all, so I'll let it go. If it starts to, I'll try your recommendation on loosening the screws.
Thanks again!

I seem to be having this issue, it happens after about 30 minutes of listening as well.. Can you point out what nuts need to be loosed / retightened? Also should the loosen / tighten happen when its warm or when its fully cooled off? Thanks.
