We also had a great time. Enjoyed talking with Lonnie and Chad. The Dirac demo really showed what it is capable of. The John Mayer clip sounded night and day different when they switched it on and off. Winning some Airmotiv 4s was an added bonus. Thanks Emotiva!

Dan wasn't there, so not much on future development. I was impressed with the Dirac demo. They switched Dirac off twice during an action sequence in Oblivion, and both times the spike in the midrange was pretty harsh, drowning out any treble detail and directional cues. It was kind of like listening to music in a car when the windows are suddenly rolled down, and then back up again. I don't know if there was any correction when Dirac was not active, but the room was unforgiving without it. I was at the back wall of the room, and objects moving from the rear to the foreground were clearly defined with Dirac on.
My wife and I both won gift cards in the first raffle (again, sorry), and I cashed them in for a DC-1 that can't arrive soon enough. Thanks to everyone at Emotiva for your time and generosity!

I was also at the back room also with Dirac being switched on and off. Wow, I'm a believer. Off sounded flat and one dimensional, on brought out all the layers of sound and clearly spaced them out in the room. Had a wonderful time! Lonnie was awesome as advertised, willing to answer any and all questions. The Nicks, Chad, etc.. were all wonderful. The displays and rooms were Emo candyland. If you're anywhere close to a show (yes, they are thinking about Houston) do yourself a favor and go!

I sat once way off to the side by the wall and once right in the center front seat and it was substantially better in the center (obviously). Dirac really showed its worth on the John Mayer clip. When turned off, you could tell how horrible the room was acoustically. Although I thought the Stealth theater at Emofest sounded better, I realized that the room they had to work with yesterday was probably a huge handicap. And the fact that it sounded as good as it did with Dirac shows how powerful that software truly is.
