Yes; the Gen2 is VERY near The differences are the black trim - and that you can now do 88k and 176k over USB. (The Gen1 did ALL sample rates up to 24/192 via Coax and Optical, and all sample rates up to 192k EXCEPT 88k and 176k via USB. The Gen2 now does ALL sample rates up to 192k INCLUDING 88k and 192k over ALL its inputs.) I now see that you cant add a XDA-2 to cart in the Emotiva-shop. You can only reserve one.. Maybe that means that a gen 2 is near? Thanks. I have a stack of Emotiva gear and was thinking of getting the $219 XDA-2 -- emotiva.com/products/dacs/xda-2. I assume that is generation 1. Is that one (available now) with silver trim? The rest of my gear is silver trim. Would the E-club ($49/yr) 10% off apply to the XDA-2 gen1 on sale now --> $219*10% = $21.90 off?

It would be great to see a comparison table of relevant specifications, cost, dimensions, and differentiating characteristics of: XDA-1 XDA-2 gen 1 XDA-2 gen 2 Stealth DC-1

As far as I know, the Gen1's are all gone... and the page should be updated in the next few days. Thanks. The black end caps are very nice. The G2 also ships with a new, smaller, all black, remote. The only thing I notice functionally compared to the G1 is that the G2 announces the USB mode (i.e., 2 or 3) on its display. Actually I've only, this far hooked it to USB 2.0 so that's all over seen, the presumption that it shows USB 3.0 is just that, a presumption.

I was looking at the silver caps to match my vertical stack of "gen 1" Emotiva gear: USP-1 ERC-1 UPA-2 I agree the black caps look good. Thanks again for the comments. Mike

Yes, I hooked it up to USB 3.0 ports and it still announces "USB 2.0" so my presumption was erroneous, at least with the USB drivers on my Windows 7 music machine (a Zotac ZBOX ID82).
I did check that the remotes for the G1 and G2 are functionally identical. If someone has one each of the G1 and G2 remotes and wants to trade so they end up with two G1 remotes and I end up with two of the G2 remotes, please contact me.

A newbie question. How do I hook up a subwoofer on a XDA-2 setup? is it from laptop - XDA-2 - active sub - 2 channel amp - speakers? You can do that. But I would use one pair of outputs to the subwoofer. And the other pair of outputs to the speakers. Your XDA-2 has two pairs of outputs - XLR and RCA. Then dial in the subwoofer crossover and the subwoofer volume to blend in with your speakers. You can use a bass sweep to do it from youtube.
