I'm not completely happy with my system unlike most people here. Still trying to find that one pair of speakers that will "do" it for me so to speak. Once I can sell my RX6's then it's off to try something else. You might put Bowers & Wilkins, Magnapan, Wilson, Legacy, Focus, Thiel,Sonus Faber, Monitor Audio, and KEF on that audition list. For me the subwoofer audition list is short: JL Audio and REL

And most folks that are passionate about audio are on some form of perpetual quest for improvement. The only thing that changes as you get older/wiser, is you do it more intelligently. Scott

I am very happy with my rig. just trimmed it down by selling my PS Audio transport on Audiogon. best recent addition was Deezer Elite streaming service via Sonos. opened up a whole library of music for me.

I am happy with my modest system Maybe a Emotiva preamp upgrade sometime the next year I would not consider your system to be a modest one. Audio systems vary from person to person in both taste and financial affordability. Money is realtive and so are audio systems. Your system seems more than adequate. I think it is great system by your signature. Saying that there is no reason to deny the need or yearning to upgrade. It's good for the economy...lol. I subscribe to Sound and Vision and also I scour the Internet looking for new products. I tell myself that I am involved with an expensive hobby where one never sees the light at the end of the tunnel. You always want to make an improvement. Case in point I am looking to upgrade my speakers and also investing in a preamp sometime next year. There is nothing wrong with what I have but I just want better if I can afford it. My days of going into debt for electronics is over. My speakers and preamp will be paid for in hard cash. Most likely the next pair of speakers I buy will be buried with me. Congrats are having a super system!

I know most of those companies have lower end models but I've usually been disappointed in the $2000 price range. I do need to go out and listen to some more speakers though as it's been quite a few years since I last went to actually listen to something. At that time I wasn't too impressed with anything by B&W, Paradigm and some of the other commons speaker brands. I currently have the Monitor Audio RX6 and trying to get rid of them to move on to my next pair haha. I'm shocked that I've had zero interest in them but I guess they aren't that popular in Canada.

My wife usually says turn that crap off? If I had Wilsons best speakers she could not tell the difference

The subwoofer list has LOTS of variables to consider:
Do you want strong <20 Hz. response? (bring $$$) Do you want slower bass frequency roll or strong response down to a certain frequency with rapid roll below (typically sealed boxes for the former, ported for the latter) What's the budget? What's the preferred size? Are you matching the sub to full-range speakers (easier) or to small satellites (not)?
I'm very happy with my PowerSound Audio XV-15, but that's not to say that it's the sub for everyone...

Yes, I am very happy with both my main system and my little mobile system. Stereo music listening being the first priority for me, HT second, I got started in this hobby by choosing the right DAC first, which I have recently replaced with the followup model from the same brand. Although I have been also very happy with the old DAC, the new one sounds even far better to me so it is in a different league altogether IMO. Prior to having purchased the old DAC, I had been searching to get an affordable pair of big floorstanding speakers, but found it difficult to properly evaluate speakers mostly because practically all dealer rooms are lacking in one way or another, and they don't use the same DAC and power amp that I use. So when I found out that Canton had released their new Vento 890.2 DC with ceramic tweeters, I finally took the plunge by ordering both an Emotiva XPA-2 and a pair of these speakers. This all happened three years ago. I live on the other side of the pond (Belgium, Europe) and I had never auditioned any Emotiva products before. Curiosity killed the cat, but in my case it soon became a life changing experience because music on this system is so real that it makes me want to speak all sorts of gibberish about cars with steer horns on them and stuff like that.
