Hello everyone need some help please,
We just added a REL subwoofer to a setup which consists of a USP-1, XDA, Carver a 500x, and a pair of B&W CM8. Everything is connected using quality cables.
Here is the problem: There is a noise in the speakers after the sub cable is connected and it stays even if the sub is powered off. I even pulled the power cord from the sub and noise was still there until I disconnected the subwoofer cable. I moved the sub away from the speakers and put a 3 feet distance between them, no change.
Suggestions, Thoughts,......
Thanks guys.

It sounds like the subwoofer cable itself is picking up noise, which is getting into the preamp circuitry (a long cable can act like an antenna). I'm guessing that, since you didn't say "hum", we're talking about some more or less high pitched chittering or chortling noises (sounds silly, but that's what they are). If that's the case, we're usually talking about very high frequency interference... and, if so, putting a ferrite bead around the sub cable right near where it enters the preamp might fix it. Hello everyone need some help please, Aha, I thought noise pickup by the sub cable was the issue just couldn't confirm it, there is a Hard Drive, a Blue Tooth device and a few other things near the cable. I'll start with the ferrite head and maybe even get a better shielded cable. I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile other suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Doc.
