I don't know where the "XPA-1L's get hot in Class AB" claim comes from but I have had 2 in my system over the last month and neither of then ran any hotter (pyrometer readings) than my XPA-100 doing the same work The XPA-1L's do run a little hotter in Class A but they sure as hell have the heatsinks for it. Cheers Gary Mine definitely run warmer in AB mode than my XPA-2 did. Yeah, mine too. My XPA-100s and XPA-2 never even got mildly warm. Neither do my XPA-1s. What's too hot? Each owner has to answer that for himself, but they were too hot for me. If they were the only amps in my system, I'd probably be OK with them, but running them with my tubes, nope.

But not too hot for me and my XPA-5 which barely gets above ambient. And the space savings in the rack is nice.

If you do, how long can you bear the heat from 0 to 5 and the hottest is 5?

But warmer than an XPA-2 or 5. Class A operation would make it uncomfortable to do so but I've never tried to see how long I could hold my hand on top of one. It's not like it would make you pull your hand off immediately.

Also the manual is the same as the old generation because it does not say gen2 and the lower right frontal picture where it says XPA 1L does not show gen 2 under it unlike the other gen 2 versions like for example XPA 2 gen2...What do you think? Actually the manual now says Gen 2.

How come the binding posts are so far apart? I like the AMP but my cables won't work with it.

How come the binding posts are so far apart? I like the AMP but my cables won't work with it. I think I read in the secrets review that the fully balanced architecture meant they had to be spaced like that. They could have ran a wire from one of the posts inside the chassis to make them closer, but they decided to let the user select what type of speaker wire to run.. Sent from my SM-P600 using proboards

I've never had a problem with the spacing. I ve had Zu cables and my own make, deltadube makes great custome cables any size you like. Superior quality cables, he's a member here on this forum.

Looking at the internal picture, it appears they have run a longer internal cable to the positive. So they could have run a shorter one and had the binding posts closer together like most AMPS.
Can someone measure the distance between binding posts for me? I will see what cables I can buy for them.

You can always go into the sides of the binding posts even with banana plugs. That's what I do with my Emo X-series cables.
