I just bought my monster sub cable and at one end there in a sticker directional arrow. What does it mean?

That is so the electrons know which way to flow

So does it mean that it should be in the direction of avr?

I doubt you will hear a difference either way. I believe it is intended to point to speaker.

Some believe that there is an audible difference in the sound depending on the way in which the cable is connected so the arrow indicates the end of the cable that the manufacturer recommends to be plugged into the AVR and subwoofer. You are sending the signal from the AVR to the subwoofer so the arrow tip should be plugged into the subwoofer.
Some people believe it makes an audible difference in sound quality, others think it's utter BS. In this case, you won't hurt your gear by connecting it in the other direction so you can switch back and forth and see if you can hear anything different.

That's what I thought too...

Logic tells me that Monster wants buyers/owners of their supposed directional cables to think that it should be placed in the direction of signal flow. As for the laws of Physics...............well you decide.

Signal flow would have the arrow going in the direction of subwoofer, AVR ---> Subwoofer

The arrow only works with cable risers than allow the electrons to always flow downhill. For this, putting all your gear near the ceiling and having cable risers slowly step down the wires to the speakers (so you don't put tension in the cables which would add a lot of Resistance as it tightens the cable sleeving and prevents flow) ensures the best sound via the fastest possible electron flow.

Mark Or another scenario is if you have the cable risers and you have a water pipe burst the signal will know what direction to follow to the speakers and stay out of the flow of the water

So, in simple English, it means that the arrow should be connected to sub just like what LCSeminole Global Moderator stated in his reply above. Am I right?

Think of the cable as a garden hose. The arrow points to where you want the "water" to flow. But just think about it.. if you connected your garden hose with one end to the faucet versus connecting it with the other end to the faucet, would it make any difference on the flow of the water? That said, I am experiencing great sales of my directional garden hoses, that, when the water flows along with the arrows, makes your grass grow taller and greener.
