We went to see this movie today in imax and we really enjoyed it. Everything from the incredible special effects to the orchestral music that just kept ramping up in volume deafening us was outsanding. The space ship shook all around us, I can only imagine what it might sound on Boomzilla or novisnick 's system with the migghty PSA suwboofer. There was a very impressive robot done that felt both very alien and very imaginative! A very good HAL replacement. It's a star I tell you. Or uh...lego blocks? The pacing was well done with some very thoughtful topics discussed. I was quite surprised here as they had the oppurtunity to make it more gung-ho, less thought provoking, and they did not. But when it became gung-ho they didn't restrain themselves! Something I was very surprised was that very science stuff was central to the movie like space time distortion, time going slower relative to one another, wormholes, poisonous atmospheres, gravity, and the "5th dimension". Pictured: the fifth dimension possibly unrelated to the movie My wife understood everything that went on in this movie despite all the sciencey stuff thrown at us. At not one scene was she lost. A very effective way of telling the story imo. Even better she didn't fall asleep which happened during transformers 4 and stayed glued to the movie. What did you guys think?

The first two hours were fine. The film lost its way in the final hour and was way too long. I didn't like it.

I'm going to give this movie another chance when the BluRay (hopefully Atmos sound) comes out. I saw it yesterday at a new movie complex here in Athens Ga. The sound was ungodly loud and dialog was not clear throughout the movie. I think the movie house amps were near into clipping constantly. This made it hard to follow, plus I think the science in it was decidedly political in nature, man destroying earth, and conjectural when it comes to the wormhole and beyond. The conjectural part is O.K. just like Jules Vernes books were but the main subjects of Vernes novels were known entities, the earth, the moon, deep sea, etc. and concentrated on known scientific knowledge and how future technology may handle things. The worm hole may just be a human concoction and not exist at all and everything beyond the worm hole is fantasy with no scientific basis. In other words this is liberal interpretation of science and a destructive interpretation of humanity!

I saw Interstellar with the whole family two weeks ago. Saw it at the Opry Mills Imax. One of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time.
It's visually stunning. Is it loud? Yes, at times. Is is also really quiet at times,
This is a story about love and humanity and the connections between us.
Go see it and don't be hyper-critical. It takes the joy out of the experience.
It's a movie. Enjoy the ride.

Went to see it here NYC at the Lincoln Center Imax and all its glory, the sound was loud yes!!!! But the everything was intelligible, and clear.
I thought this being a Sci Fi it was smart unlike dozens of hooky sci fi films in the past 10 yrs. It was heart felt too, hitting to the core of what a father would do his family!
I loved it.

In other words this is liberal interpretation of science and a destructive interpretation of humanity! The whole world is about to end is a pretty common theme. As far as I could see, the "blight" had no discernable cause attributed to it. For me, it appearsed to be some sort of virus that thrived on the nitrogen in the air. I personally thought this was the weakest part of the movie. As for the wormhole and blackhole, my biggest problem was how are they surviving the crushing gravity? But I guess you have to give some concessons for the movie to move along. As for the clipping, I can definitely see how that happened. We sat slightly forward of the middle. And the sound was deafening a lot of the times. Even on the imax, it felt like the amps were straining to keep up and the bass on the subs appeared to sclip at times. I can see how in a weaker theater, there could be clipping. I personally liked the sheer power which I felt communicated the grandeur of the scene but even I felt, hmmm they could turn it down a tad

I don't honestly think that anyone believes 100% of the "physics" shown was real. But knowing Kip's work, 80-90% of it might be. That is leagues closer than most sci-fi films in recent decades. Don't you agree? Again, I have yet to see the film myself but have been reading up on the science behind it. Being a sci-fi reader as a teen, a movie like this is rare indeed. In the end it is a movie, not a documentary after all. Oh and thanks for the link. Now I may want to get that book.
