To me this Blue Ray is an ultimate keeper. Audio and video are amazing. Yeah some might not like the story. Yeah I get that. But hey still a great movie, and Matt won't park a Lincoln in front of a Buffalo. I promise. No really.

One of the main things I didn't like about the movie were the characters. Frankly the most likeable character in the whole movie was a robot, or robots really haha and by far didn't have nearly enough screen time. The first act (or third of the movie) was good, the second act was horrible in my opinion. Both the daughter and son were unlikeable, not to mention the dude on the planet. Almost didn't like any character at that point. The science was a mess to say the least. At most they would lose minutes, maybe hours by traveling that fast (the faster you go the more there is a time difference between those moving slower and those moving faster) but there is no way they would lose months let alone years without first getting stuck in the gravitational pull at the very least, or just downright killed. I actually didn't mind the third act at all but would be intrigued to see what the alternative was. Overall it would only get in the mid 6's or so, maybe a little less. Audio and video were really good but I'm not really sure if I'd watch it a second time. Basically, I'm disappointed and expected more from it even though my expectations were already pretty low for this movie. It was better than Gravity but that's not saying much as that movie was just a woman freaking out the whole movie and was frankly a bit sexist (man calm and cool and the woman losing her sh**...pretty typical).

In your feelong about Gravity, I too thought it did not have any, ahem, weight. Instellar was better. Yeah many aren't going to like it, many will. Aren't movies fun! A nice Subwoofer exerciser too.

Interesting people are commenting both ways about the audio. I think there was so much dynamic range that some amps/speakers simply couldn't handle cleanly reproducing it. You have somewhat quiet dialogue in the middle of a deafening orchestral score which can stress most amps. I'd be interested in seeing how my trusty UPA-2 would hold up against it.

At the movie theater were I watched it, I did not notice any problem with dialogs intelligibility. The BluRay at home sounds terrific, very nice bottom end, even at moderate volume and I do not have a sub (which is in my shopping list .

It's a movie but that doesn't mean certain things don't need to be accurate. It was glaring enough for me to completely take me out of the fantasy that was the movie. Even though technically accurate, it's extraordinarily implausible. It's one thing for a guy to shoot unlimited bullets from a gun, that's to be expected. It's another for a normal guy to be shot in the head 10 times and walk away like nothing happened. There is a difference. Seriously, what's with the reply anyways? Am I not allowed to enjoy or not enjoy a movie as I please and have certain expectations of it? is this a movie or science experiment?

No problem with dialog here. Sound was amazing. Great picture and visuals. He movie itself wasn't as good as I was expecting. But I did enjoy it. The 3 hours went by very fast.
Looking forward to another viewing

Watched the extras last night, and found that the soundtrack was recorded at a major cathedral in England using their pipe organ. (Did not catch which cathedral). It turns out, the soundtrack is a real exercise for the sub woofers!!
Now have to listen again, and during the day with the subs can be turned up a bit.

I thought this film was decent right up to the end, which sucked big time IMO. Plus the damn thing is WAYYY too long.

I finally watched it last night on the XMC-1, and I loved it. There has not been a movie in a long time that had my attention the whole way through. I had to run upstairs a couple times to do something and I truly ran up, did what I needed to do, and ran back down to avoid missing much. I honestly didn't really notice how long it was, and I just suspended belief on the science parts and enjoyed the ride.
The dialog through the XMC/Dirac was crystal clear and the bass got intense at times.
I will be buying the BluRay. We just did PPV off TWC last night.

Okay second go around. This time at home. The soundtrack remains as deafening as it was. At times, I could hear some distortion in the orchestra as it ramped up, don't know if it was on the soundtrack or my speakers. I'm guessing the recording. But darn it got loud and sounded great. Having seen it already, you can appreciate the beginning a lot better. Having said that...... "MURPH! MURPH! MURPH! Repeated about a million times in the movie. You notice it a lot the second go around Some of the landscape scenes like the ocean and ice planet were really fabulous. The wormhole thing was also pretty incredible. It's a movie that's designed for a large screen. Gorgeous. Very well done special effects. And the style of the movie puts it in the more iconic category. Also the whole "soft black hole" and why they didn't get torn apart by its gravity makes more sense now that I read up on it. Other notes: There was so much Mathew mcconaughey in this movie! (A good thing!) There was too much Matthew mcconaughey in this movie! (A bad thing!) The robot still looked fantastic. Very impressive.

OK - Refresh my memory - Is this the one about the guy who leaves Earth to go to three potential new home-worlds? Then returns via black hole?
