I would look for a Panasonic PT AE8000U for around 800-1000$ I was actually looking for a used one of these, but patience is not a virtue that I possess. They were selling new for a $1600 street. I sold mine for 1000 to my buddy and he is thinking about selling it because he dont use it... you interested? We live in Indianapolis In

I finally got my benq ht1075 w/ 110" screen hooked. My first impression: Amazing. I couldn't believe how good the picture quality is. It definitely exceeded my expectation. I can't believe I considered getting some crappy LED instead. Out of the box, the cinema mode is pretty good without touching the settings, but I found some white scenes to be a little blinding.
I started going through the calibration process using my newly purchased WOW disc, but haven't gotten too far yet. 2 things that I noticed(so far) was that the contrast image from the disc never quite calibrates correctly. The bars are never visible as they should. Also, I couldn't see any difference in the sharpness setting regardless if it was 0 or 15. I have not gone through the color or gamma settings just yet. I tried googling the calibrations settings(for a good starting off point), but could not find any. I know the setting would be different based on size screen size, throwing distance and ambiant light, but thought starting with something might make the process quicker.
So Far: Pros: Excellent picture quality for Movies and Games Brighter than I thought it would Out of the Box color seems pretty good Vertical and Hortizontal lense shift works well(though I'm not that far off axis) The fan is not that loud.
Cons: Poor documentation(I still haven't figured out the difference between EcoSmart and Economic bulb Picture washes out with the lights on, but not nearly as bad as I expect(STILL VERY WATCHABLE) Sharpness doesn't seem to do anything Take a little awhile to get started, but I've never owned a projector so this might be normal
Other Notes: Has a speaker that plays loudly, but sounds like it's in a tin box. EDIT: One other thing to note is that there is what appears to be a faint water spot on the one side of the screen. I tried to clean the lens, but it is still there. I only notice it when the picture is a solid dark color(i.e. black or a dark blue). I wasn't certain if this is the rainbow effect that people mention with dlp projectors, but it's worth noting.
