Maybe it's been answered in the thread already, but I did not see it (searched on "balance") but can one use the recommended MiniDSP 2x4, the balanced model, and run the inputs in as balanced, but use just one "side" of the balanced outs to run subs with unbalanced inputs? $US125 for dedicated bass management is too hard to pass up! Yes you can connect unbalanced cabledls to the balanced 2x4.. Positive to positive Negative to negative Place a jumper between negative and shield. Or get an unbalanced 2x4 and just plug rca cables in on both sides..

In the first post , how did the OP show the teal colored line ? I dont have any other checkboxes on the bottom part to show additional graphs hey guys trying to do this REW thing on my mac for the first time and just wanted to ask how you can show the A+B graph ? i dont see it in my options. i attached a screenshot View AttachmentI don't know that that's possible.

ok got it , so there was a 3rd test with both subs on. thanks and will update later In the first post , how did the OP show the teal colored line ? That's the best way to see how they interact with one another. Ideally the trace of both should be higher up on the graph than both the single runs across the spectrum.

looks like the trace of both are higher but does the over-all graph look ok or am i better of using a minidsp subs are run by a peavey ipr2-5000 non-dsp so i cant control phase/eq etc and i'm just running it off Dirac on my XMC-1 Thanks ok got it , so there was a 3rd test with both subs on. thanks and will update later Yep. How are the subs configured in the XMC?

i ran them on dirac dual mono but switched to mono when i ran these tests (without running dirac again) View Attachmentlooks like the trace of both are higher but does the over-all graph look ok or am i better of using a minidsp subs are run by a peavey ipr2-5000 non-dsp so i cant control phase/eq etc and i'm just running it off Dirac on my XMC-1 Thanks Were those run after Dirac? i ran them on dirac dual mono but switched to mono when i ran these tests (without running dirac again) Were those run after Dirac? How are the subs configured in the XMC? I would try limiting the frequency scale to 150 or 200Hz when checking the subs. in the traces below I used 150Hz at the high end with variable smoothing. I'm an advocate of using the MiniDSP with multiple subs. I have the XMC setup as Mono with the left sub out feeding one input input of the MiniDSP with the subs connected to it's corresponding outputs. I use REW to get the subs response smoothed out and in phase. Then I run Dirac which sees the subs as a single unit that needs little correction. Running Dirac in Dual Mono will EQ each sub individually but does not take their interaction with each other into account which can be huge. Another benefit of the MiniDSP is if I'm not using Dirac for whatever reason the subs will still be corrected by the MiniDSP. Here are the before and after of my subs with the after showing the combined output. Some time soon I'm going to try to improve on them but they sound pretty darn good right now. I cross my mains over at 80Hz.

So…. Funny story… I needed to use this myself today to help a friend fix some problems with his subwoofers. (Suddenly really glad I wrote this as this has nearly completely fallen off the shelf…)
