I just wonder why we can't sit back and really listen to music instead of constantly chasing an unattainable goal. I used to chase this this dream back the 80's and 90's, always buying and selling off in pursuit of the perfect system. Let's face it... even if our pockets are ocean deep it's all subjective and dependent on each individuals ears. I once spent a ton of cash on gear and had little to listen to. Today I own more music than most record stores.

I don't get too detailed about one piece of gear to another and miniscule treble this and that, I wouldn't even know what to listen for but I just know when it sounds good or bad, I can really enjoy my music anywhere, even on the crappy stereo in my work van haha, just obviously sounds better at home. Oh yeah to mention I never noticed a difference between the DAC in my 7030 or my DC-1, the only reason I have an external DAC is that the 7030 is not able to use digital inputs for the extra zones, so I have the XDA-2 for just that reason, so I can listen to my digital library and CD's on my Zone 2 and Zone 3 speakers

I own well over a thousand CD's and rarely listen to them. Heck I've thrown away more music than that. Albums, Cassettes, 8 tracks. How much music you own is completely irrelevant in the 21st century. I listen mostly to Pandora and other streaming services to be exposed to new music. Further, the pursuit of a better system, better not perfect, is an enjoyable endeavor in itself. The fact that it is "all subjective and dependent on each individuals ears" is also irrelevant. Those ears in my case are ALL that matters. I've got the money, and I enjoy it. I have since the 70's. How about this, you enjoy the hobby your way, and I'll enjoy it my way. But please refrain from judging me. You do not know me.

Fair enough. I wasn't making anything more than a general statement. Primarily about myself. I spent a ton back in the day, relevent to what I could afford that is to say. I spent too much time chasing down a dream I couldn't ever realize, or so it seemed to me. I much prefer just sitting back and listening these days. That's all. One of the modern day problems with electronic communication I guess.

You too Amigo. Man I am so far behind the times! LOL I live on a restricted budget these days being a disabled guy. I was once able to do things financially that I can't anymore. About 9 years ago I fell down the stairs. Kinda sucks.
