This might be it. Upgraded XDA with a better preamp and a switch to use tube buffer on and off,. I could even tube rolle a bit. It shouldn't cost much, but as per article it could bring a lot. ;-)

Wait till you get the BILL for tube rolling. NOS = New Old Stock are the vintage tubes EVERYONE craves and are in increasingly SHORT supply while prices continue to RISE. The only good news is that in a buffer application or preamp, for that matter, they DO last a real long time. Than you'll want to get into CAPACITOR rolling. and MORE.

Tube rolling was a joke, but I understand how addictive it might get (photography is my other hobby). I don't worry much at the moment as we are just discussing about the device that only exists in my (and some other's) imagination.

You had me worried. I knew some folks that were into OPAMP rolling. The regular OPA2134 wasnt' GOOD enough for 'em and so they went nutty finding more and more exotic. Than one of 'em discovered DISCRETE Opamps and that was THAT.

I have just realized there is an XSP-1 pream in Emotiva's line. I assume adding a better pream and (maybe tubes) wouldn't be beneficiary to the XSP-1 sales, but you never know.

just because you add tubes doesn't mean it's better for everyone, so I don't see a conflict here... They will probably keep seling as much XSP-1's and grab a part of the market for tube lovers

just because you add tubes doesn't mean it's better for everyone, so I don't see a conflict here... I agree. My first premise was to add a switchable tube/sst option to it as I noticed lots of empty space in the unit. Again, this is only our (mine) imaginary device. I hope it will turn up into something, though. :-)
