So I am anticipating taxes next year. If you are looking to upgrade, and you are looking to use tax refund for it...what I would do it take the tax refund and give it to me. I will need it to pay on top of what I had withheld. I am going to be hosed this year! If you don't want to do that, stick the $ into a decent interest bearing account (like, Ally Bank - on line) and forget about the money until what you really want is on the market. Mark

Most companies have a line in place before they pull the plug on an existing line. Uurg. I think that's a generalization. If the UPA-700 didn't sell that well then they wouldn't want to make more when they ran out. I'm sure they want to see how the XPA-7 does before they commit to another 7-channel amp.

Well, they cut the warranty on some of the Sherbourn stuff and I think my PT-7030 only has 3 years now (or less) from what it should have been had Sherbourn still been around. Then there is the promised firmware update they said was going to happen but reneged on as soon as they sold everything. That being said, I've never had to replace anything that broke before and I've only ever heard positive experiences for the most part so I wouldn't worry about it. Emotiva stands by their warranty even when the product is discontinued. I've personally had one of my discontunued products replaced with a brand new unit of the same model. I'm not guaranteeing it will happen that way all the time, but that Emotiva will stand by it. And unlike Peavey and other large commercial busineses, there is one headquarters for emo and that is in TN. Their sherbourn units have a 10 year warranty and when they closed down they stressed that they will stand by the warranty on all their unis.

Add me to the list of someone who is interested in a 7x120 amp. I am going to need one to go with my UPA-500 to implement a 7.2.4 ATMOS set-up.

There are other choices in amps. www.outlawaudio.com/products/7125.htmlLooks like it is exactly what you want. ...and until Emotiva comes up with more choices, a logical choice IMO.

I owned the UPA-7 for about three years. I sold it a couple of years ago. Of all the amps I've owned thats the one I would have kept if my focus wasn't on 2 channel.

There are other choices in amps. Not at the price/performance ratio I got from Emotiva with my UPA-500.

Has anyone heard of any rumblings about Emotiva coming out with an Amp that would fall in between the UPA-700 and the XPA-7? I would love to get the XPA-7 but that thing is a Monster in size and weight. I do not have the room for such a large amp. Also, I would need a fork lift to move that thing around.
The Outlaw 7125 is tempting, but if Emotiva has plans to bring something out like it in the near future, I would be willing to wait for that.
Thanks for any info.

I'm pretty sure we will see some kind of update or replacement to or of the UPA series. Emotiva offers a "budget" or smaller line in almost every area so I don't think the UPA series is just gone for good. Just my guesses of course.

I have a UPA-5, UPA-7, UPA-500 and an XPA-5 still in my various rooms.
I have a couple of friends that want to get into low cost separates, and now I can't recommend Emotiva as they don't have anything in the amp lines that meet these people's "budgets" at this time.

If the upa-500 doesn't cut it, you'll have a hard time finding a lower priced five channel power amp I found the main problem getting people to jump into separates right away is mainly that they tend not to think about the cost of the electronics. For instance, they've heard of avr's. But for them they've heard of a BOX that powers the speakers. That makes sense to them. Start talking to them about an outboard dac or if you're going to multichannel say a reasonably priced umc-200 and a UPA-500. Suddenly the price jumps byu at least $500 to 600 that they didn't bargain on. The netry level for multichnannel electronics is around a $1000 ! That's a lot more than many peeople planned to spend on electronics. My suggestion is....instead of trying to get them onto multichannel right away...with the cost of buying the surround centers and sub ....I think it is much better to just get them decent stereo speakers. Especially if they can't afford the UPA-500. If they can't do that, then they honestly can't do multichannel sound WITH separates.

They both want multi channel amps, but not yet willing to spend XPA dollars, so...
Sort of the same story when Emo discontinued the UPA-5 and -7 lines with no replacement/alternatives for a long time.
