how do you power your center channel for HT? How much power does you center channel have feeding it? im looking at a Paradigm CC-690 which has two sets of binding posts, it could be bi-amped. how is yours connected and what would you suggest? I'm open to all recommendations !

You need an XPR-1 for the centre channel nick, you know it Either that or the XPA-5 needs to be upgraded to an XPR-5. Personally, I find the XPA-5 plenty for the centre channel. Cheers Gary

Cheers Gary Gary, so your saying that 200watts without bi-amping is your suggestion??? this center channel,is the same size as the towers. A XPR-1 would have dominating control of the drivers, but,,,,,,,,,I find it impossible to purchase a single MONOBLOCK!! And don't tempt me with a XPR-5,,,, I've already battled that demon once,,,,,,twice,,,,,,OK!! A bunch of times!!

I have the Sherbourn PA 7-350 powering my 7.1 setup and love it. It is a great center channel and a perfect match with the studio 100's.

Hell yes, the XPA-5 with its 200 wpc into 8 ohms with all 5 channels driven (that's like ~300 wpc when one channel needs it) is plenty. Easy 100 db peaks with 91 db efficiency speakers, large room small listening area, and the UMC-200 volume barely half way (40 out 80). It's not a question of going deaf, it's simply how long until we are. Guess what nick, it won't cost you anything to try the XPA-5 since you already have it. If you find that you need more then ask the question again. Cheers Gary

Run Mine with a upa-1. 200 Watts, never had a problem. Mine is probably easier to drive than yours though.

Bi amping.....try the XPA-5 for the lows and the XPA-1L for the mids and highs. Flick the Class A switch, the female voice sounds so sexy if you can keep it under 35 watts. Cheers Gary

Nick for movies you will be fine with the 1 channel feeding the cc 690 from the xpa 5.. a 3rd xpr 1 mono block would be sweet but true over kill..
its not 2 channel audio ..
im running my cc690 off the xpa 3 and xpa 1s on the mains its good enough for me..
less I win the lotto..

Bob Same here, XPA-3 for my Silver Screen HD center and Studio HD surrounds, XPA-1's for my Signature SE's, they're 4 ohm speakers and the XPA-3 barely even gets warm driving them, unless you have a cinema sized home theater room, or like to listen really really loud, 200 watts per channel is oodles of power for center and surrounds in my opinion.
