Here is the link to the show's web page: www.starz.com/originals/themissingThe show is an intense crime drama with a BBC feel. It is set in England in France, in the present and 2006 when a couple's 5 year old son was abducted. The writing, acting, and cinematography are excellent! And every now and then you subwoofer will kick up some dust. The best TV we are watching since Game of Thrones is on a break. Trey

It's a great series for sure and as of the last 6 months or so, the wife and I have been preferring these BBC based or adaptation type series over regular prime time TV shows. This one is based off the original BBC series called Broadchurch and it's funny to see that the male detective is cast within both series. Another good one to watch is The Fall starring Gillian Anderson and Jaime Dornan.

We have not seen Broadchurch yet, but it is on our list. We did watch the American adaptation Grace Point and enjoyed that a lot. The Fall sounds great, thanks for the tip! Also, we watched a BBC series shot and set in Sweden called Wallander. It stars Kenneth Branagh, and he is wonderful in it. Not a cheery series by any stretch though.

I'll look into Wallander... thanks for sharing. The White Queen, also BBC, is pretty good and Black Sails (both on Starz) is somewhat entertaining.

I had thought about Black Sails, sounds like our families have similar taste, thanks for all the good suggestions!

My pleasure... We're just tired of all of the reality shows and not so funny sitcoms that are on prime time these days.

I have to agree on "The Fall" and now I absolutely must see "The Missing" as well. Has anyone seen "Happy Valley?" It's currently on Netflix. I found it extremely good.

The poster for Happy Valley looks killer!
My wife and I finished up the first season of The Missing last night and it was really great tv. The acting is top notch and the story is wonderful and complex. One thing I really appreciated is how well the portrayed the perverts. Pedophiles have this mix of sneaky/slimy and self loathing while being huge liars that they caught perfectly. Great cinematography, and setting most of the events in France added richness. The best tv I have watched since the Wallander series and Game of Thrones. When I get back from vacation my wife and I will look into the recommendations offered here.
