I happened upon a Harmony Touch remote at Costco for $139 and read some reviews of it and the Harmony 650, which is $60 at Amazon. Does anyone have any input as to which is better and whether the Touch is worth the extra money? You can see my setup in my signature, In addition, I have an Xbox and a basic Sony Bluray Player that I use for Netflix, XM radio, Vevo, and Amazon Video. Thanks in advance.

The touch leaves you the option to add a "hub" down the road for closed cabinet control.. I have a 600 upstairs and every time it gets bumped it resets (total pita). The touch uses the screen for most of your controls, however you can program it to use the actual buttons for two commands per button (long and short presses) to cut down on having to scroll through the screen option to find what you want to do.. I find the 600 to feel more comfortable in hand but the more I use my ultimate the more it grows on me. The touch will control more devices and is rechargeable.

I currently have a Harmony 1100 with the touch screen. Previously had the 688 which is not a touch screen. The touch screen is much better IMO and well worth the money. That Costco price is very good - usual price on the Harmony Touch is around $170. You should ask yourself - how often were you disappointed when you spent more when you could have saved some $$'s by spending less?

The Harmony Touch looks like the remote for the Harmony Ultimate (which includes the Hub and the ability to use your smart device as a controller). I'm very happy with my Ultimate as it replaced my Harmony 1000. Most of my settings ported in from the 1000 at setup; which took all of about 15 minutes. Unlike the 1000 and the 1100 that replaced it, the touch screen is like the touch screen on your smart device. Meaning that you don't have to depress the screen for it to register your input. The menus are relatively easy and straight forward and a little exploring of them reveals some decent functionality.
For my dollar I would go with the Touch over the 650.

I have 2 650's. Picked them both up at Radio Shack for under $50. They work great if you have 5 components or less. They will NOT work with the Hub but I use phones, tablets, etc. with that. The 650 for the money (if it fits your system) can't be beat in my opinion.

The touch is nice but it's not so ergonomic to the hand. At least for me... the rf capability to he added is always a good thing... the 650 will feel more comfortable in your hand.... fwiw I have had the touch and many other Models and prefer the harmony 900. It also has rf capabilities plus a touch screen. It can be found online still new for great prices. .. I had the touch then went back.to the 900 because of the feel of the remote.

I did get the Touch, and I agree that it is not very ergonomic. In addition, I can't seem to get it dialed in, so the activity feature never gets everything right. It also simply will not turn on my XBox despite the fact that it is supported by Harmony. I will try to work some more on it this weekend, but it is close to going back to Costco. Any thoughts whehter the 900 would address my issues (no Xbox control, wrong inputs, not turning on devices), are these Harmony problems or stupid user problems? siggie

With the 900 when you set it up you choose watch dvd as the activity for the Xbox. .. it may be the same with the touch.... you can make the 900 do almost anything you want with all the customizable button options
