If you are waiting to use the card on an XMR-1 and don't have trust, I would suggest sending Big Dan a note. I agree. I don't have a card so it's a non-issue for me right now. Otherwise I would. The only thing I believe from "Emotiva speak" is the past and the now, today. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next month, and certainly not next year. They change their minds like the wind. And even if the XMR-1 comes out in 2016 (I'm not holding my breath for a second), I can't afford it then with or without a card anyway. Next year we will be working on remodeling our kitchen. 2017 or more likely 2018 would be the soonest for me. Not unless I hit the lottery (which will be difficult since I don't play).

Bonzo, stop making me nervous. I am patiently waiting for the XMR-1 and my Upgrade Card is kept ready on the Emo server for it. Period.

Since many have already purchased the XMC-1 with the 40% discount card, logic says that it should be good on an XMR-1. That said, Bonzo, thinking like a lawyer looking for loopholes buried in a contract, could have a point. But it would be a public relations disaster, if nothing else. My biggest fear is them meeting the 'early 2016' release date.

I actually bought my 40% off card but just found out fedex lost it or delivered it to the wrong address. I am bummed. Luckily it was insured for what I paid for it. But darn now I have more work to do to get another.

Let's all stop with the conspiracy theories. The 40% off card is good on any processor they currently make or any future processor. I personally used one on my XMC. The "gen 3" refers to how many generations of different processors they have made...not which generation of XMC or XMR, etc. they are on. IIRC, the 40% off first started being valid on the UMC-200 and was started as a thank you to early adopters if the UMC-1 (which had some teething pains...) Mark

Interesting, this seems to be a recent edit. I was thinking since these boards are modular it may be possible to plug in the DAE 8 series board to obtain ATMOS for the XMC-1.

The above technical article is very impressive and enhances my already high opinion of Emotiva. I am excited for the XMR to come. I bypassed the excellent XMC-1 due to lack of more output channels and Atmos. This excerpt from that report gives me encouragement to wait for the XMR ("Emotiva claims a close relationship with MDS and is moving ahead with a 16 channel implementation, at a much higher price point, that uses boards in the new MDS TI DA8xx Performance Audio Framework. The new DAE 88A board, which supports Dolby ATMOS, has just been introduced by Momentum Data Systems.)" Bring it on Big Dan!

Dr. Rich e-mailed me this extra thought on the upgrade of the processor card:
"The move to commoditize all AVRs below $1500 into three OEM factories in Korea, China and Malaysia (I can see this in the latest schematics) is dramatically pick up speed for the announced 2016 products. This is a result of the overall world economy and the stranglehold of Amazon and Best Buy on the supply chain. It is why Cambridge, Harman, Rotel and Sony have me to AVRs. Sherwood would rather make units for other then promote its own brand. Many popular priced Denon’s and clone Marantz’s are also in these plants as Pioneer will be soon be with the take over by Onkyo. You will never see "Made in Japan" again. The USA built XMC-1 is absolutely counter to the trend but the cost is its feature set is a year behind. The challenge for Emotiva is to get the boards updated. How they do that is made clear in my article as is the reason for the time delay re. the Far East OEMs. I do not understand, like you it is not getting more interest. All Anthem products have moved to the far east OEMs (Canada production of the Pre/Pros is ending) which gives them a 6 month lead on the feature set and ARC is still significantly better than Dirac. Ultimately the marketplace will judge if USA construction or faster to market feature set with an OEM was the correct business plan. My article series makes the pros and cons very clear."

Fedex just called and said they delivered to my door on Friday. Thats it. This sucks. I was home all day Friday and when they said it was delivered my wife and I were cleaning the house. It can't be replaced so I guess I am out 500 dollars plus the cost of another card.

Have you checked under your door mat? My FedEx as well as UPS drivers put smaller items a well as envelopes under the mat.

But instruct him to tell Emotiva to transfer the card to you.

This won't help in "rhale64's" current situation but using a shipping company's "Signature Required" option is a must when shipping something of significant value.
