I came across this on How It's Made last night watching TV. I found it on YouTube.
Interesting video on the production of the classic Mac 275 tube power amp, still in production after 52 years.

One of my favorite Sunday evening shows - "How its Made" on The Science Channel. Never seen this one before Chuck - thanks! Very cool!

Now you know what makes it so expensive... $4500 Well that is not too bad actually if you consider they going to last you a lifetime.

I love the idea of the bottom center mounted LEDS illuminating the 9 Pin Miniature Socket drivers. Blue for Emotiva here would look great...

It's not a watch, it's an amplifier. But you know, why don't they have tube watches? That would be pretty cool, a blue illuminated dial and really mellow time using a tube watch.

Thanks Chuck. I watch how it's made quite often. As a matter of fact I actually saw the one about making vacuum tubes yesterday evening. The one about the McIntosh amp I hadn't seen before.

Someone asks you what time it is, you just lift up your arm like you would if you were checking a wrist watch but instead look at your lower arm. Just make sure to put the tubes facing the right way.

Wow, sweet video. Love the show and watch it every chance I get. We are usually just as amazed at the equipment and processes that build the products as the products themselves. Someone had to engineer the build as well as the final product, whatever it might be!! Can't help but drool over that amp......
