Just to clarify, the upgrade benefit (card) I got with my UMC-200 is now worthless? The next processor I buy from Emotiva will be full MSRP (aside from e-club)? Your 40% card will be fine and usable after May 1.

Erwin.BE, it's plug and play buddy . It does help to hear that the XMR-1 will be out sometime next year. This means I'll get to enjoy my stuff for at least one full year more before annoying my wife about getting another piece of "audio junk" . I have upgraded my Atmos 7.4.4 design to 9.4.6 after hearing about the XMR-1. I have just started building the first of 6 surround "ear level" speakers. I will have to be content with standard 7.1 for the next year. In the end, the appeal of Dirac is just bigger than Atmos, certainly if I can have both in a year or so.

Okay, that's good news.
Although, I imagine Emotiva will change the policy on the grandfathered upgrade cards at some point. It's just how businesses work, good or bad.

I didn't hear anything about correcting the reduced Dirac levels and a new mic cal file.
Did I miss something? I believe both of these mods were promised at some point...

If you can get the XMC-1 now and enjoy the stellar sound quality for 1+ year then get the RMC-1, that's ideal. I don't like to wait for the "next" thing. I'm impatient and life is too short to be always waiting. Also, I use my stereo system EVERY day. It's not like the carbon road bike my brother bought me that gets zero miles . This only applies to audio, I can wait for video...my 1080p stuff still look great to me. I prefer to go home and turn on my "kick- ss" stereo system starting w the XMC-1 instead of waiting for the next better thing to come out. That's gotta suck just waiting and waiting... if you have the means...enjoy it now.

The reduced levels some experience may well be taken care of by the individually adjustable channel levels in the Dirac calibration. We should know that Friday after some of us get it and try it out. I'll be one of those.

I guess I assumed everyone will be getting the full version but that really isn't the case.

I was going to hold off on the XMC-1 but now I'm thinking about it. I appreciate getting a heads up on the price change.
Curious if the XMC-1 is going to have the new boards after May 1st. That would negate the rush to buy now, other than getting included in UFL.

Keith, Lonnie, anything about the release date of the umc-200 replacement?
Thank you in advance!

Discount cards, upgrades, Dirac full live version, HDCP 2.2, HDMI 2.0, price increases in 30 days so hurry and buy now... it's enough to make my head spin! Then, as if in a vision, it came to me... I plan on winning the XMC-1 door prize at the next Emofest. Problem solved.

What really confuses me on the pricing, regardless of discount, is how is it possible to sell a product and lose money as a business and survive? Apparently, even at $2K they are still losing money with every sale. Is the XMC-1 a "loss leader"? Sorry, it may sound like whining, but I'm just curious. I seem to recall Big Dan saying they weren't making money on the XMC-1, not that they were losing money on the XMC-1. There is an appreciable difference between the two (at least that's what my accountant tells me).

A few months ago I wouldn't have cared about hdmi 2.0 but 4K TVs have been going down in price remarkably fast. Mark

Mark My 4K TV is connected to the XMC and I have an Oppo that upscales to 4K. Right now 4K won't pass thru the XMC to the TV. I'll see how it goes with the new firmware. Not that there's any particular advantage to having the TV scale to 4K or the Oppo but I'll be able to verify it works.

You can pass up scaled 4k video from your Oppo to the XMC-1 at up to 30 Hz without the upgrade. With v3.0 we support 60 Hz.

- XMC-1 going up in price. $2499
- Dirac Full for Mac and PC on Friday.
- Axpona.
- New XMC-1 firmware features. (zoom on OSD, colors)
- Some news for what sounds like Canadians (Canada wasn't stated, wasn't stated what news was, maybe a distro center? (guess)
- End to upgrade for life
No mention of: - Emofest
- Tubes
- Turntable
- RMC-1 (or any other processor on horizon)
- Class-D amps
I understand waiting for Axpona or whatever, but I was hoping for some new product info. 3-4 months since last podcast - was expecting a little more. Lame.... I was more interested in the items not mentioned.... also add in "un-powered speakers" Seems silly to me that they got rid of speakers to go with the "Amps" they sell. SMH I don't care about Dirac, XMC-1 not on my to buy list ever. I think they rushed this pod cast due to pressure from the forum. I hope I didn't come across as being a butt, just getting impatient. We don't comment about what we are working on until release is imminent. We don't want to be told we're "late" if something takes longer than expected. Just because we didn't discuss some of the things you are interested in does not mean that work is not being done on the very things you want! Relax.

I don't think its really about reward vs not. I think it's more about them potentially losing 25% on a $5000 processor. I guess I'm a "Jonny come lately" because I'm waiting for the RMC-1. Dan explained the logic pretty well in the Podcast, it simplifies their pricing policies going forward. Which at the moment must be very confusing, what with 40% discount cards, 25% for life, 10% for EClub, B Stock, Specials etc. It must make pricing a new product excessively complex as there's no way to know how many of each category will buy how many. For current UFL customers the 25% still applies to every processor, even $5K ones. I assume so does the 40% discount card. If you haven't purchased a processor anytime in the 5 years before 1/5/15 then yep, I guess you are going to be a Johnny come lately. Cheers Gary Gary, I think you understand our thinking. We have thousands of "Upgrade for Life " customers and their status has not, nor will it change. In the last ten years, either you've pulled trigger or you haven't! If you have not purchased one our our many processor or receiver models by now, you're probably not going to, so what does it matter? If you have a 40% card, you can keep waiting until the end of time to use it. No problem, we'll be happy to honor it when you're ready to redeem it. Now, if you do not already own a qualifying product before your redeem it, you're not going to be in the upgrade for life group after April 30th, 40% card or not. If you have purchased a unit in the past or up until April 30th, 2015, you're in the upgrade for life group. It's very simple and very fair. And for those of you waiting for the XMR, please be aware that we do not plan on releasing it until early 2016, so plan accordingly. As a reality check, the code to support DTS-X doesn't even exist for the TI platform yet. Also, our HDMI 2.0 card will be out our BEFORE any compliant source component become available, so please don't worry about this either. We'll be making it available at our cost for existing XMC-1 owners. You're not going to even see a HDCP 2.2 4K source or BD player until well into 2016.
