no, the other is beter (it has optical &apt-x) . by a log shot imo. The biggest advantage is that the optical output (on the other model) has the ability to allow your DC-1 to be the DAC. In the amazon one you are looking at, uses its own DAC. Since the point of the DC-1 is its quite good DAC capability, you want to use it whenever possible, that's why I suggest you use the previous one you found. You'll also want this, it's the cable you will need with it: www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022901&p_id=3395&seq=1&format=2They also have a 3ft version if the linked one (18 inches) is too short for the same price

The monoprice one looked good except I would prefer one with a range of 50 feet or above.

The monoprice one looked good except I would prefer one with a range of 50 feet or above. Back to the Airport express, though it will only work with iThings, wifi is much better than BT if you want distance. The core spec for Bluetooth is 10 meters, so above that each unit will be different. Do you really need all of your devices to make a wireless connection? Why don't you just pick one device for Wifi and get a good sounding solution (like the Airport), then get the cable or BT for the others. At least then you won't compromise all of the devices.
