One other problem that I've spoken to Emo tech about, but he had more questions then I did.
From 5 to 10 minutes into a movie the video drops out and skips about a minute forward.
The V: line on the XMC-1 goes blank and th audio stays lit but no sound or picture for about 45 seconds. Anyone have this problem???
Please help! Or let me and Emotiva know if you experience this problem.
thanks.
Edit: this has happened on every disc I've viewed.

Just wondering novo, were you using the Mac dac program? I leveled my latest dirac speaker run and found a quite Nice soundtrack field. But you got very good results using this umkl-1 microphone with 90 degrees field, were do you get this mic my friend? Also noticed that up to now my macdac software doesn't hang itself since i plugged in the house power on my Macair. Go figure, might be something to do with the activation of the screen saver? Mel

Woh! Hold on a minute!!! Just ran Dirac for the 7 or 8 th time, but this time ,,,,instead of the sweet spot of my chair, I did the sofa,,,,,,WHATTTTTttttttttttt!!!!! Using a UMKI -1,,,,,, OK, I don't talk or type like this,,,,,,,,,,,,but what the,,,,,,!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! DANG GOO SH*t my brothers!!!! Also used the 90* narrow calibrated files. So much wider and open!! Yes, I'm super spoiled,,,,thank you Mrs. Novis!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you,,,,,,,but this is up another level. Don't tell KiethL but I started this test with digital into my XMC-1!!! Sweet I highly recommend using the sofa setting in full Dirac for a single and double sweet spot. Even for just one sweet spot,,,,,try the sofa, I think you'll find what I did!! 8) It's so much easier to dial in your sitting area with Dirac. This would have taken me at least a month to find, that's how long it took with the XSP-1/DC-1 set up. Almost identical sound, but so much easier to get there if you know what I mean. Anyone else experiencing this??? Now, on to a concert DVD Edit; garbulky, you'd love/hate ,,,, moving/not moving speakers with Dirac How do you do a double sweet spot?

Edit: this has happened on every disc I've viewed.Sounds like CEC related interference problems. Have you tried turning off CEC or using the second HDMI output on the XMC-1 instead of the first?

CEC is not enabled, no, I haven't tried the second HDMI out on the XMC-1. I don't know what that would change, but I'm sure going to try it. Thanks

Mel Thanks for responding, I don't use the Mac for Dirac. I am using Full Dirac and Windows 7. yep, sounds like the screen saver popped you. the umkl-1 is from Cross Spectrum , here,,,, cross-spectrum.com/measurement/calibrated_umik.html Pay to have it calibrated, it'll come with a readout and a USB stick with the calibration files on it. Good luck novinick

sonicseeker,
The double sweet spot is by using the sofa calibration instead of the chair set up on Dirac Full Version.
It widens the sweet spot without loss.

sonicseeker, The double sweet spot is by using the sofa calibration instead of the chair set up on Dirac Full Version. It widens the sweet spot without loss. I guess I will have to look I didn't know there was a choice for sofa or chair. the picture always shows a sofa for placing the mic. I have ran Dirac several times and have it sounding pretty amazing at this point especially after using Toni's Math cal file, so I am hesitant to try anymore. I was asking because I set my sweet spot between my two recliners so it will be good for the two listening positions for HT, but I wish we could load two DIRAC's one for HT and one for audio giving me the option of a sweet spot in my chair for music.

Yes, I do agree with you on that point, two Dirac settings loaded into the XMC-1,; One labled two channel, and the other labled HT, that would indeed be optimal. Having to fire up the PC and inputting a second Dirac setting isn't convenient at all. if we could load the two Dirac settings onto a USB stick and load them alternately, that would be an ok fix. What say you??

I hope this might be something that could be a future update to this processor. On a side note I am glad you are getting where you want to be with the XMC-1, I have been following your journey hoping this would be so.

Whens the last time you updated the oppo? Do you have another Bluray player you can test? Since its at the same time every time, I would think that the problem is in the Bluray security check.

I do believe that my video dropout was somehow due to an audio problem with the Oppo, after correcting audio , I think I've solved my problem. Glad to here your not having any problems.

Tony Seems we posted at the same time,,,,,, I believe I found my problem. This is the first movie that hasn't stuttered like before. It hasn't always been at the same exact time in the movie but I think it's fixed. thanks Tony, for checking out my problem and offering advice. thanks to all of you that have helped me through this journey, I hope to return the favor at some time during other friends journeys. novinick

Hey Nick: so why don't you tell us exactly what audio problem you fixed in the Oppo 103 in order to remove the dropouts. I have experienced some dropouts myself when I tried to play the oppo's video with Oppo hdmi 1 connected to my Darby and directly to my Panasonic tv, with Oppo Hdmi 2 connected to XMC 1 for sound. When I play both video and audio through Oppo hdmi 2 ==>> XMC-1 ==>> Panasonic, it plays without any dropouts. It is as if XMC-1 does not want to play nice when it is only playing Hdmi audio for the Oppo, and the Oppo is directly connected to the TV for video. Neither the Onkyo 818 nor the Sherbourn PT 7030 ever behaved like that. That is why I am wondering whether anything will change if I use the second XMC-1 hdmi output, given that it is not enabled for either CEC or ARC, which are both known to cause some interference problems and cause glitches under certain circumstances.

Another thing: Is Dirac calibrated 2-channel stereo audio noticeably better sounding than Dirac-less Reference Stereo or 2-channel in Direct mode? I have not had time to mess with any Dirac Full cal or settings yet (I confess I am a little intimidated), but I am really wondering about that--how much better Dirac-tweaked 2 channel audio might sound...

OK, I didn't realize others were having these issues. Ill go to my Oppo and state the settings I've placed into use. Oppo is as follows; Playback,,,,,,,,,WAIT,,,,,I'll photo and post,,,,,much easier for me. I'll update in a few minutes.
