This should be published early next week...
Teaser: "It has been a disappointing time in the AVR world. “Excellent” parts have been replaced with “good parts”, and in the majority of cases “average parts” in anything below $3,000. Finally, there is some bright light shining from a product some readers can afford: the Emotiva XMC-1 Surround Sound Processor (SSP)." - Dr. David Rich

I wept. Seriously, though, great article but much of it was WAY over my head.

"I did get a chance to look at the top of the line Emotiva power amp, XPA-1,which is fully balanced, making it ideal to interface with the XMC-1. Unfortunately, the SNR performance of the power amp was lower than expected, but a relatively simple change in the design can improve the SNR."
XPA is not "top-of-the-line" Dr.Rich is smoking that good grass again lol

A quote from the article: "As emphasized above, you need a power amplifier with excellent electronics in the stage which converts the balanced signal back to single ended o r a fully balanced power amplifier to get the performance enhancement." Well I'm very happy that my Hypex NCore 400 amps have a fully balanced power amplifier design.....

Just a heads-up. Bob Kozel, who wrote the XMC-1 review is submitting another follow-up article on Dirac Live Full. He has a couple interesting suggestions for improvements. I'll post the link here when it comes up...
