Hi everyone I'm a newbie. I was thinking about buying the emotive 1800 receiver. , but...its not on the website anymore?! soooo I have 500 to spend on a 7.1 processor, looking for recommendations for used gear , what should I take a peek at, used to have a lexicon dc-1 but .......broken not wiling to put anymore money into it. I have a pair of snell A's and two sunfire amps. I don't want anything too old maybe umc 200 or ?? what are your favorites so many conflicting brand reviews. thanks

So shameless plug here, but... I just upgraded to the XMC-1 and am selling my Marantz AV7701. It's a bit more then you're looking to spend right now, but not by a huge amount.

Outlaw 975 for $549 new, not sure how much less if you can find a used one: outlawaudio.com/products/975.htmlNext to a used UMC-200 I think it is one of the best deal out there. Like the UMC-200, it takes a quasi-minimalist approach, though. Not many bells and whistles, but the money has been put where it counts.

A used UMC-200 OR even a UMC-1 for less. The UMC-1 with the latest FW is a very good unit. And I do have one I am thinking of selling. PM me if interested.

So basically the umc-200 is discontinued, the 8100 receiver is discontinued, so the only option for the time being is the xsp at 2500$. From what I can see finding a used umc 200 is nearle impossible unless, someone in the lounge has one to part with. or a used umc-1, which depending on what you read is iffy, whereas the umc 200 is praised universally..........hmmmmmmm what to do what to do?

Other than one of the previous Emotiva processors you mentioned, if you can find it used, I am afraid the only alternative is the Outlaw.
Or you could wait for Emotiva to release a successor to the UMC-200. Although it is understandable that Emotiva cannot stretch themselves too thin, I find it hard to believe that they will place all of their bets on the XMC-1, especially now that they increased the price.
I doubt they will release another processor in the same price range of the UMC-200, (although it would be great if they did) but I can definitely see an opportunity for one in the ~$1,000 range. Coupled with either the XPA-5 or XPA-7, it would make for a very nice separate system at basically the same price or less of the XMC-1 alone.

Try starting a new thread titled: WTB UMC-200 and keep plugging it to see what happens. Also give Emotiva a call and see if they have any used or refurbished UMC-200's available. With the massive surge in XMC-1's sold prior to 1MAY, someone might have traded one in.
Just a thought.

I occasionally see fusion receivers, and umc-200's on eBay. If you keep an eye open I imagine you wouldn't have to wait longer then a month to get one.

Nice! Can I asked where you found one? I sold mine recently (purchased XMC-1) and have regretted getting rid of it since. I'd like to set up a 2ch setup in our family room and the UMC would have been perfect.
Thanks,
Bill
