Hey Guys, I passed along the UMC-1 to my Dad and we are having an issue getting it configured to work with his existing receiver. I mention this because we did not reset it thinking his setup is very similar to mine. Our goal is to use the receiver's power and have the UMC-1 do the audio processing. We get no sound at all when run through the UMC-1. Harware Setup:- A recently purchased bluray player is connected to one of the UMC's HDMI inputs for the source.
- HDMI out of the UMC is connected to his projector.
- RCA cables run from the 7.1 out (blue) to the multi CH input (3) of the Yamaha (see linked images).
UMC-1 Config:One input is configured (besides Tuner) Audio: set to Ext 7.1 CH Video: set to HDMI Advanced Playback: set to PLIIx movie Others are pretty much default When we run the bluray player HDMI directly to the Yamaha input, we get 5.1 sound which is how he uses it today. With the UMC-1 in the loop, there is a very faint volume coming from just the center channel but this is at a VERY loud volume. We both thought it could be some sort of channel bleed and didn't want to harm the speakers. There must be something we are missing. The Yamaha manual says it should just pass the sound through and apply no processing when it's multi CH inputs are being used. We checked the inputs on both components to be sure they are correct. Any ideas? Thanks! TK

Your Blu-Ray player is connected to an HDMI INPUT on the UMC-1. The OUTPUT of the UMC-1 is connected to an input on the Yamaha receiver. You have the UMC-1 set up sort of backwards. On the UMC-1, you want BOTH THE AUDIO AND VIDEO INPUTS TO COME FROM HDMI - so both audio and video inputs on the UMC-1 should be set to HDMI. The main outputs on the UMC-1 are going to the inputs on the Yamaha - which is correct. Presumably you have the Yamaha set to use its analog multi-channel inputs (it should be). The problem is that you want both the audio and video going to the UMC-1 (from the Blu-Ray player) to get there through the HDMI input, yet you have the UMC-1 set to use its 7.1 channel audio input. Set the input you're using on the UMC-1 to get AUDIO and VIDEO both from HDMI and it should be fine. Thanks Keith.. that fixed the problem. He ran EmoQ and just ordered an SPL meter so he can set his levels perfectly and then finalize the crossover settings.
He's a happy camper!

I spotted the issue too but see you have it sorted...IMHO forget about Emo-Q just set your distances and do a level calibration with the SPL meter. YMMV for me Emo-Q never cut the mustard for me.

Sorry but I'm unfamiliar with the forums protocols for messages.
Can the UMC-1 Tuner be set to search for stations manually?
