That was in reference to using a TV as a computer monitor and the built in limitation of 60 input. Even in that context, it doesn't make sense to get a huge screen for computer use at a desk unless it also has higher resolution, all IHMHO of course. Just as 28" is too small for UHD, a 27 or larger is too large for 1080p, where 2560x1440 or somewhat larges is good. I agree. A 27" Dell UltraSharp U2715H is perfect for me. Not too big on a desk and the sweet spot resolution wise. Plus my 290x runs it like a champ.

I'm running a 27" Sanyo as my monitor/TV, it has every input for A/V know to man but one. And I can't think of its name because I've never used it. Great picture with HD 720. Sleeps when the PC tell it to and awakes upon external input, mouse or keyboard not from my iPads JControll for JRiver,,,,, wish it would but neither does my Mac.
I can't emagine ever owning a dedicated monitor again.

What do you plan to use 4k for? I heard windows 10 has improved scaling support.

Apparently now the GTX 960 with HDMI 2 can be had for around $250 which isn't bad. I just bought a GTX 970. Paid $325 (Amazon). The 960s were going for $210. Both have HDMI 2.0. Haven't tried to connect it to the 55" Panasonic via HDMI yet. But curious to see how Far Cry 4 will look on that screen.

What do you plan to use 4k for? I heard windows 10 has improved scaling support. More (seamless) PC real-estate than my 30" provides. Otherwise, I am curious about whatever limited 4K gaming I might be able to do, though if one has to reduce quality settings it kinda negates the 4K aspects. Finally, would be an early way to see what 4K can do video-wise. Still, 95% is the first reason. I don't expect to have to scale anything for the PC. I don't scale anything with the 30" (it's at 100%). Text will still be slightly smaller but also sharper - I'll get 50% more desktop horizontally, and about 36% more vertically. I'm running Win7, don't know if I will move to 10 or not, depends partially on compatibility of certain apps (and games). Who knows, maybe I will put together a 2nd machine for "normal" use on Win10, with a GTX960, while keeping the Win7/970 machine going for gaming et. al. If I ended up getting the Vizio 43" M-series 4K TV, rather than a 40" monitor, that will help even more in getting less text shrinkage. Downside is the Vizio only has HDMI inputs, no computer inputs like DP, and only one of the five HDMI inputs does 4K at 60Hz and HDCP 2.2. BTW, I deal a lot with orchestral music scores, which is the original reason for moving up to the 30" for (again) more real-estate and less scrolling (especially vertically). That will be mo' betta with 4K!

I'm about 2/3 the way through Crysis 2, haven't even installed Crysis 3 on the machine yet. I have installed Far Cry 3 and played it a little bit to get used to it, but I should probably start over when/if I ever get to it. Far Cry 4 looks like it's going to be even more amazing. On the other hand being far behind is good for cost, I don't buy until the price drops to $20 or lower ;-)

As an addendum question... If you have a 4K TV used as a monitor does it have at least TWO inputs that will do 60 Hz on the HDMI 2.0 inputs (4.4.4 color as well). I'm looking higher up the chain in the $800-$900 range as well, and some still have only a single input that will support 60Hz - which is fine if only a single computer connects to the TV. So far I've found one TV, the LG Electronics 43UF7600, that someone claims to do 60Hz UHD on it's first two HDMI inputs. It only has 3 HDMI inputs though ;-)

Will it do well on either card? I'n thinking 1080p resolutionb but I am very willing to settle for 720p resolutiom.

According to an article on gamespot: PROJECT CARS PC SPECIFICATIONS: MINIMUM SPEC CPU – 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400, 3.0 GHz AMD Phenom II X4 940 GRAPHICS – nVidia GTX 260, ATI Radeon HD 5770 MEMORY – 4 GB RAM, 1 GB VRAM RECOMMENDED SPEC CPU – 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 3700, 4.0 GHz AMD FX-8350 GRAPHICS – nVidia GT600 series, AMD Radeon HD7000 series MEMORY – 8 GB RAM, 2 GB VRAM So... it looks more like the CPU is slightly more critical than the GPU here. A 970 or 960 should be plenty. The video of a race (as reviewed on the gamespot website) was quite impressive. It really felt like "you were there" ;-)

I would guess 1080p though (it runs 1080p @ 60Hz on a PS4, but only 900p on an Xbox One). They say the game on a PC can be run as high as 12k rez! I wonder what it would take on a 4K rig.
