I'll take Pass Labs, NAD, Denon, and Sony over Classe. Interesting you mention this. I thought that my Denon receiver was closer to the sound of the RSP-2 than the Classe myself.

wideawake... would you mind sharing some of the artists, albums, websites, etc. for the music that you brought to the demo session. It seems as though it was a hit and I wouldn't mind giving it a listen.

jlafrenz, I got to play 1 number each from two albums. The album that Nick and Animo liked is titled "Live at Saptak Festival - Kaushiki Chakrabarti". I could not find this album online. It was gifted to me by a friend. Kaushiki is the daughter of a renowned Indian classical vocalist, Pandit Ajay Chakrabarti. She has taken vocal Indian classical singing to another level altogether and has raised the bar very high indeed. The album is a live recording of one of her renditions at the Saptak Music Festival, which is held for 13 nights every year in January in Ahmedabad, India. All the prominent artists perform at this festival at no charge and it is a heavenly event for Indian classical music lovers. saptak.org/saptak_events.htmlKaushiki has messed me up big time because after listening to her wonderfully trained celestial voice, which spans 3+ octaves, I don't like to listen to all the other artists anymore. They just don't measure up to her. She's only 27 years of age and is already a force to reckon with. I also have another of her albums titled "Pure" which is available at Amazon and it is almost as good as her "Live at Saptak Festival" album. www.amazon.com/Pure-Kaushiki-Chakrabarty/dp/B0004OCVD6/Here is Kaushiki's web site: www.kaushiki.net/

I should have included, Pioneer, Alpine, Bose and Creative Labs in my list of companies I'd take over Classe. I'm not surprised at your Denon, they make a fine piece of kit. I have zero doubts that the RSP-2 probably provides a cleaner, more transparent sound than a Denon receiver, but I don't think it would annihilate it. BTW - Which Denon are you using?

With the exception of Pioneer , Which of these other companies makes high end audio for the home? Alpine is car audio, Creative is computer stuff and Bose is strictly budget minded HT in a box. If you prefer Bose to Classe, and are using computer and car audio to make a comparison, then all I can say is, you have taken any and all validity in your posts and tossed it out the window ....IMHO......unless of course this was a case of sarcasm. Every one knows that Classe is a boutique item. Too much money for not an equal return on your investment. Denon is ok, but the major differences that we have heard to date is that the RSP-2 gives a more intimate sound than anything else we have heard. It sounds like a live performance as compared to the reproduced sound of other equipment that we have compared it to.

In a brief fit of sarcasm, I was attempting to emphasize my point of how crappy I have always felt Classe sounds. I am well aware of where all these other products fit in the market. I was laughing as I wrote the post, and hoping others would laugh as they read it. I apologize if you took it so seriously. My point is just that I think I've heard car audio systems and computer audio systems that I'd take over Classe. As far as Bose, ok, you got me on that one, I have to completely admit I'd take the Classe over Bose. It's more crap than crap, and that's pretty crappy. And as Bose demands an unconscionable price tag for what it is, I really can't even throw that one in there, even sarcastically. I would say, pesonally, that Denon is better than ok. I have become a fan over the years, and honestly, they lost me for a long time. I'd thought I'd out-done them, moved up, found true audio bliss, but any time I bring a Denon piece back into the equation, I can't really find much fault with it. What you've said about the RSP-2 sounds quite valid to me. I honestly really wish I had the space and the budget to get on the list to get one. I would LOVE to hear it, and I think I'd posted this before, but I honestly have no doubt I would hear some finer detail in it for my musical listening (which is 90% of what I do) above my 3808CI. Cheers.
