Have NOT hooked up the ERC-3 yet but man am I glad they/you changed the remote to be more slim and sleek! Half the size and weight, I simply LOVE the way they attached the back plate to get to the batteries!!! How awesome is the use of four magnets and just pry the plate off? ? ? Love the design AND it works with my already hooked up ERC-2! Will test it out when I get the XSP all squared away. Anyone have an ERC-3 after using an ERC-2?? Thoughts? Moto

Hey Moto, I own all three of the Emotiva players and they have gotten better with each generation. The ERC-3 sounds amazing. I just bought my second one last month. I use Canare AES/EBU cables and the detail is awesome. Enjoy!

Yep the ERC-3 is awesome. The remote with the neodymium magets more so. Leave the screw drivers in the tool box. Enjoy!

I started with the ERC-1 then added the XDA-2 as a DAC (only). Moved to the ERC-3 last summer and I found it just as exact but with a smoothness and warmth that the others did not have. Excellent player.

I wish I had researched the ERC-3 a little more before purchasing. While I have no complaints about the sound quality, construction, size, looks, etc., I have one major beef about its operation: I am annoyed by the player's insistence on auto-playing the CD as soon as it loads. This is not what I want; I often would rather skip ahead to a desired track, but as it is, I must let the first track begin playing, pause it, THEN skip to the track in question. This may sound minor, but it's a major distraction and even a slight embarrassment when demonstrating my system to others.

Hello, I've owned the ERC-3 and sold it, im still using the ERC-2, i much prefer the slot loader to a drawer. Thats just me. Im playing through a XMC-1, I've gone both balanced and unbalanced. They both sound supreme to me. Actions speak the loadest.
I still spin CDs in the ERC-2.
You now have my two cents on deposit.

Yeah, the one thing I wish for is make the things rechargeable. All remotes should be rechargeable

Yeah, the one thing I wish for is make the things rechargeable. All remotes should be rechargeable Yes and no even those batteries have to be replaced eventually! You can purchase rechargeable batteries yourself, thats what I do. I do have a Logitec that is rechargeable, it needs new batteries as I type! also, it would increase production cost, maybe not by much, but whenever you try to save a buck, more important places should not be shaved.
